Rugby union?

Neither team were particularly great. Unless South Africa really pull their socks up, NZ will destroy them in the final. Argentina will come third while Owen Farrell strops off in the huff

Not sure about the pen from our last scrum really but I knew that was going to happen.

Well played England tbh, getting it that close again the number 1 team given their previous performances is just damn impressive.

I still find Scrums and lineouts utterly baffling when you watch them. Seems to be random whether a "not straight" lineout call is made, and scrum decisions are so rarely clear cut from my point of view - particularly wheeling the scrum, half of the time the decision seems to go in the benefit of the team that run sideways!
The above is a pretty general comment, but in the case of this game, Boks seemed to get away with what appeared to be a few non-straight lineouts. But as for the scrums, we just seemed to get monstered once the front rows changed. Yet watching from the telly, you generally have no idea why a decision has been made most of the time.

If I’m being honest England got further than their recent including World Cup performances deserved. We were unlucky tonight and it was fine margins as to whether we should have won this match. But South Africa have been amazing at times and New Zealand vs South Africa feels like a truer final that England New Zealand. I’m still sad we lost.

To be fair although we led for almost the whole game the South Africans got a try, we never looked close. They also had more strength in depth in the scrum. I now switch to support another underdog in the final, South Africa

I mean thats one way to look at it but i do think that final penalty was very very harsh.

Games done, SA have been ridiculously poor.

Fair ***** to England taking advantage, could be even further ahead

:p

I managed to catch most of the second half.

Did not expect the score when i turned on at half time.

That ending was brilliant. That’s twice this tournament where the attacking team has **** the bed when needing points after 80. Ireland and England got to be kicking themselves.

AB got smashed by the SB for their biggest defeat ever just before the WC started but no way is going to be that one sided.

I can’t pick a winner though.

Will be interesting. Maybe more similar play styles whereas I think England focused more on defense/breaking down SAs plays.

SA are probably the most worn out though, especially with NZ having a relatively easy go at Argentina.

The scrum is completely broken as it is no longer about restarting play the feeding team are simply looking to win penalties which essentially results in accidental infringements like Englands knock on as having the same out come as foul play. World Rugby needs to find someway of turning the scrum back into what is should be ie a way of restarting the game after an accidental infringement with only a minor advantage to the side feeding the ball.

The rules are so broken and badly enforced that I no longer have any faith in the refereeing of them set piece. The ball should go in straight yet 99% of the time it is fed straight to the second row, nobody should push until the ball is fed, the red should call use it after 3-5 seconds of the ball being in the scrum all these things never happen and the open side of he team feeding the scrum almost always step out of line and rotate the scrum.

Yeah agree with the comments above. These scrums need adjusting but on a crucial moment like that why not TMO it. The soft try was the turning point, fair play to SA overall but I feel they had run out of ideas after the first 60min using all the subs you could tell they were desperate. Considering England were a write off pre tournament cant really grumble. All blacks coming into form when it matters hard to see them losing it now.
