RuneScape 3

I paid £3 a month for 7 years to see updates and content added to the game. Not to just stop back in 07 scape.

For me, ill play RS3 due to curiosity but wont devote real time to it like i did previously. The game overall has lost its appeal to me. The reason people are loving 07 scape at the moment is the fresh start. Everyone back to level 3. So economy is refreshed. Skilling matters. and being the first one there gives you advantage.

If they reset everyone for RS3... I'd consider it.

Instead of 07 scape. They should have announced RS3 and made it a fresh begining. Its the thrill of the race/journey people miss. Everyone is level 138 with a 5b bank in EOC now with a comp cape. The problem is its inflated at the high end.

Exactly, skilling matters. It doesn't in the current game which is why everyone was so excited for the fresh start, training skills was actually worthwhile for something other than a cape.

A reset of some sort is needed or a giant gold sink.

Playing EOC isn't worth it for me at the moment. There is no money to be made at all through skilling. Slayer is a good example of this. A few years ago there was tons of money to be made training it, nowadays the drops you get a worth hardly anything. There is no incentive to train any skills at all for me.

While i was waiting for my plane on friday i aws reading PCGamer and there was a pull out for Runescape, i was actually really impressed by the graphics in the game, im not sure if it was from Runescape 3 or 2 or whatever as i know little about the game, all i do know is it had terrible graphics and you just stood there toe to toe fighting people. For a browser based game it was actually pretty impressive..

HTML 5, interesting.

Does this mean we'll see Runescape on tablets/phones? I stopped playing a while back, but that's something I've been expecting them to move towards for a while now.

html5 + webGL

Terrible. Why can't they drop this useless weak tech and jump onto DirectX already with a standalone like every other MMO. Runescape is hardly user-friendly as it is, takes a ton of performance to play it so it's not like everybody with a normal, casual laptop can get on it. You need at least a semi-gaming rig for it to run well so they'd might as well up the ante and get off of the web browsers.

Useless, weak tech? Come again?

What's wrong with html5 and webGL, eh?

The whole idea with runescape was its browser based. Its one of its allures. if you wanted a stand alone game you'd get GW2, eve, WoW, EQ2 etc etc etc

I tried it, im totally over RS now. But the custom interface thing is cool. as are the graphics and smooth performance.

Other than that. I'm just bored of rs now. old or new. Good luck to them!

*crawls back to eve*

Did they ever change the whole "die and lose everything but the top 3 valued items" thing? I always hated that.

Not completely, but you can now you can choose what 3 items you keep and you can get gravestones which allows you up to 15 minutes to get to your stuff.

I liked that system anyway, if you die you deserve to potentially lose your stuff. Risk/reward and all that. The only issue was ******** deaths caused by timeouts and the internet cutting out.

Hmm. Well I suppose thats an improvement at least.

I preferred the Warcraft system personally. Item durability that degraded every time you died. The amount of times I saw someone killed by a random spawn when they went to the bathroom or something and ended up losing a party hat or some other rare to the first thieving little **** that run up and grabbed it. It just sucked.

They have gotten rid of randoms as well, so no chance of that happening now either. To be fair though, you should have always logged out back then if you had anything good on you and you had to leave the computer :p.

Oh I always did. Mostly...

Thankfully I never lost anything expensive to those kinds of mistakes. If I was grinding a skill or fishing for sharks or whatever, I did it with most of my gear banked for safety :p

I recently got bored and quit again (while working on trim comp). I may consider going back when they release the next skill but at the moment I have no interest in playing, lost all motivation for the game.
