Running memory slow?

Think you missed the rest of your question!

The memory is just rated to do those speeds, it'll quite happily sit at lower clocks.

It's only worth it if you can't get any memory cheaper that has the same or faster latency - as that's where you'll need the performance boost.

For example, I've currently got G.Skill Ripjaw 2000MHz memory in my AM3 based system. I'm only running it at 1600, as I haven't touched the clocks yet, just the CPU multiplier. What is has meant though is that I can (potentially) run tighter latencies, and it was the same price as similarly specced lower rated memory, so therefore worth it.

Yeh i got carried away wiht the hyperlinks and forgot to ask my question!

Thanks for the answer to the question I was going to ask :)

I have some problems, and was just wondering if anyone could help.
I purchased said RAM and installed it and the computer won't POST. I have put the old sticks in and its fine again. Tried one stick of the new stuff, still won't post. Do I have to flash the SPD tables or something on the new ram to set them at a lower speed?

Make sure Rams as enough volts. Stocks 1.8v for such a large amount of ram id guess your need to up that if you haven't already.

I can't get to the BIOS screen, it just halts at the "Del to enter setup" "Tab to see POST" screen?

Can I set the memory voltage to manual, and then set to 2.1V and then shut down, pull out sticks and swap over to new RAM?
