So now i have a target date to loose weight and try and look hlaf decent by lol

i have till 9th September!!!

So should i keep running the odd mile or 2 a day. or ride 5mile or so a day??

whats the best for my target?

cheers

do both

then you wont get bored with it

maybe 15-20 miles (or 1 hr) cycling twice a week and jog twice a week?

use the other days to rest your leg muscles

Have to ride more than 5 miles to burn a decent amount of calories, as JBuk says try to do 15-20 miles, if you can't do that at first, progress up to it. Important thing is to have short-term goals to keep yourself motivated, don't just say I want to lose x amount of weight by September because you could lose motivation. Aim to lose a certain amount per week and monitor your progress each week. Also, as you begin to lose weight and get fitter push yourself more, so go from 2 miles running to 5 miles running, and so on.

i dislike running. but force myself to do it at the moment! but struggle with it :( thats why i only manage a mile or 2 and im really finding it hard :s

tonight i just picked up a bike and managed 4ish miles and worked up a sweat etc but enjoyed it.

although relised how unfit i really am :(

Yer I know what you mean, I really hate running, even when I'm listening to music that is inspirational I still struggle to keep on going. Any sport you could do that you really like? I always find it much easier to motivate myself to play football or tennis because there seems like more point to it than running.

i really love squash.

but the guy i normally go with has done his shoulder in and is now off to Oz for a month, and the other guy i have been with has snapped his acillies(now ever its spelt :p)

so im left with no1 else to go with :(

Ah thats a bril sport for fitness, I'm reasonably fit and I find it a very tiring sport to play, definitely a good idea to try to keep on playing that. Shame about the two guys you were playing with not being available, any local club you could join?

nope :(

only thing with squash is it £7 per 40mins. and whilst trying to cut down what im spending and saving like crazy for 2 weeks in ibiza im going to end up spending more than i should be :(

i`m the same, i hate running and always have done but i force myself to do a few miles - its hard work but worth it

i love cycling though and do a minimum of 15 miles when i go out , i always vary my route too - sometimes the route i do is quite flat with only small climbs but somedays i head towards the fells where its climbing most of the way which is hard work but great fun coming back and rarfely having to pedal for miles :)

Yeah, used to love it. Can't do anything atm because of this injury :(

Definately will once it's better though, I'd say it'll be at least 2 weeks before it's properly healed. Might ring the doctor again later, it does feel like it's getting worse if anything.

grrrr yet another possibility injured :( :p

Try tennis, thats good fun..or football every week.

Could bike a few miles, run a few more and back and ride back etc though.

Running sheds pounds. I could dig out loads of scientific evidence but I cant be bothered atm :p.

Cross-training is great for CV fitness and working other muscle groups.

so if i was to ride 4 miles (up and down hills) then park the bike up and run for a mile then back on the bike for the 4 miles home again.

or just run for 3miles? lol
