Thanks guys, really usefull advice. I'm easing down ready for the 10k now so I'll go for a couple of short runs over the next few days just to keep the legs turning over, the weather is looking reasonable so hoping for an ok time. It's a pretty hilly course using some less than ideal tracks and paths in the woods so I'll be happy with anything under and hour and happier still the nearer I get to 50 minutes. I'm planning to do more 10k's in the future with my aim being to be consistently under 45mins but that will obviously take a bit of time and some more training!
Still not sure on the half think I'll run the 10k and then do a weeks worth of training for the longer distance and see how I feel. I'd only be aiming to finish the half rather than set a decent time, that can weight till the next time!
