Russell Brand.

I am sure I remember some round here unhappy seeing Brand alleged as being a nonce were throwing it around the moment the story leaked about Huw Evans
I wonder if that was because of the sexes involved...

He was accused of crimes against actual minors though. So it's not to do with the sexes, it's the ages. A vital distinction.

Thee has been plenty of stuff about Brand and minors in the past (including the one posted above), its just the ones they are taking to court seem to be (details are vague at the mo) above age of consent

Except shagging a 16 year old isn't illegal (under most circumstances), what Huw Edwards was accused of was.

But thats not the generally accepted term of nonce. Which is a pretty ****** term as I have said before, even Ai throws up "While the term is widely known, it is considered highly offensive and should be avoided" so I am still surprised its so easily allowed here.

Generally it refers to people who are alleged to have had sex with children, but its not specific to that being legal or not.
Remember whilst the law allows it at 16, that person is still in the eyes of the law a child, which is why many think an adult should not be able to have sex with a child.

The main point is people were happy to brand Edwards a nonce with no evidence and pre conviction, but seem to have issues with Brand being called anything.

Personally I have the same dislike for someone accused of rape and someone accused of kiddy fiddling.
I am not sure there is any moral high ground for one being lesser a scum bag than the other.

I saw him in a Tesco near Reading yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him asking him for photos or anything especially given the current media attention. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”. I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off.

When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, sorry but you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Wtf lol

Dug deeper, seems to just be a random copypasta as @Ayahuasca says. I'm even more confused now

Initially, Huw Edwards was accused of asking a 17 year old for explicit photos.

What he was eventually charged and found guilty of was that he was getting photos over Whatsapp of underage children. That came later.

Which is an illegal act. I'm not sure how you're confused here.
I'm not confused, the conversation started by @Mercenary Keyboard Warrior was that people in the Huw Edwards thread were calling him a nonce straight away for the 17 year old boy stuff.

Is there much of a distinction between a 30+ year old Brand shagging a 16 year old and a 60 year old Huw Edwards getting photos from a 17 year old?

As explained, one is an illegal act and one isn't. Huw also had photos of kids aged between 7 and 9.

As far as I recall, there was nothing illegal with what he did with the 17 year old. The age of consent is 16 for boys and girls.

It was good they investigated though, as they found he was a nonce with the afformentioned photos from WhatsApp.

It is funny how this sounds made up, but also entirely believable at the same time.

Taking, possessing and distribution of explicit photos of anyone under 18 is illegal.

Correct as I said I think its more to do with the gender than the age.

And again as I said earlier, whilst the law says 16 is legal, the slang of nonce refers to adults having sex with children, which a 16 year old IS.
They do not align in terms of age.
16 year olds cannot sign a phone contract as they are deemed unable to understand the consequences, but we are supposed to be believe they can fully consent to and understand having sex.
Especially with a manipulative celeb.

The photos thing just highlights the idiocy. Fine to be banged by a middle age bloke, but OMG if he took a photo hes a crim.
