Russian Grand Prix 2016, Sochi - Race 4/21

Lol calm down! We're 4 races in!

The gap is bigger than at any stage in the previous two seasons to Rosberg(edit, in terms of Hamilton chasing Rosberg). Do you remember how one single failure at Australia took entirely 4 races for Hamilton to get back ahead winning every single race.

Hamilton will also most likely be on his 3rd turbo already as of the race tomorrow by the 4th race which means basically a certain penalty for engines at another race this year. He'll likely drop to the back tomorrow for an engine change(all or part) and basically known he will have to start at the back at a race towards the end of the season also. Before this race Hamilton would have to win 7 races in a row with Rosberg coming second to close the gap, the gap will almost certain increase after this race and in the engine penalty race at the end of the season.

With a massively dominant team a little run of bad luck takes a hell of a lot of races to claw back. If Vettel had taken one of those wins and looked like the car could get a couple more then it would be easier to catch but this year Ferrari look less competitive and less reliable.

And there's nothing to say Rosberg won't have a couple of retirements which virtually eliminates this gap. If we're in this position in another 4 races then I'll agree

Rosberg probably can't believe his luck. Amazing start to his season but unfortunately for fans of Hamilton like myself it's been rubbish :( No chance of Bottas fighting for the lead after a lap so another win in the bag for Nico.

There isn't but life isn't generally fair, things don't even out and individual events continue to have the same chance of occurring. Lets say the Merc engines have a 7% chance to fail, 5 races from now that doesn't change because Hamilton has had more failures, it doesn't go up for Rosberg. Lets say Germany both on new engines, Hamilton has just as much chance of his engine failing in that race as Rosberg does.

Yes Rosberg is likely to face some problems but Hamilton is also likely to face more problems. Hamilton could just as easily have more problems between now and end of season than Rosberg does.

Starting to look like my 2016 Sunday diary is going to become more empty, this season looks dire for driver neutral fans.

It almost seems as though Ferrari and Mercedes might have pushed car development too far this year, at the cost of reliability, but sadly the issues in both teams are heavily skewed to one of their drivers so far.

Unless Bottas and Rosberg take each other out at the first true braking corner tomorrow, this season is a default win for Rosberg. Current fans will know how it happened, but the trophy engraving will not reveal the true story, it will simply show Nico as the champion.
