Russian SU-24 - Shot Down by Turkey

It amazes me that the EU even considers them a suitable candidate for membership.

And that the US actively pushes Europe for it too.

But alls fair in love and war eh, just so long as they hate Russia and everyone hates Russia.

Merkel has been trying to fast track it - its bizarre.

Everything she does is bizaare lately.

EU should not 'harp on' at Turkey about human rights, says Jean-Claude Juncker
Attacking Turkey's crackdown on press freedom will not help solve migration crisis, says the European Commission president

i am speechless. Instead of enforcing the aegean with joint patrols, they give away 3 bln to turks AND they dont even care if it is run by a dictatorship because "it might not help the migrantcisis"

This EU was laughable, its becoming dangerous, rapidly

Turkey are the link between the militants and the EU. Keeping them sweet will keep a flow of intelligence, or at least we can keep a closer eye on their activities. Unfortunately if they were full EU members, it would facilitate easier passage of terrorists around Europe.

They use to be a secular and tolerant country but now seem to be going the opposite way.

Armchair general much?

With corruption, cronyism, backstabbing, fraud (on an unimaginable scale), lack of press freedom and assassinations of journalists who uncover the same, false democracy, lies, receipt and an increasingly wealthy Turkish elite holding office... They are perfect candidate for EU membership and would fit in perfectly with the politico elite across Europe

Turkey is really pushing it now, but why would they not, they have just been given a shed load of EU money, Merkel is fast tracking them into the EU, NATO are pretty much condoning the shooting down of the Russian jet by Turkey, they are going to land us in a world of hurt by association and not give a crap because the big bullies in the playground have their back...

What world of hurt? NATO's military strength is roughly 15 times the size of Russia's.

I didnt mean as a purely military action, we are going to be getting into a war that we can ill afford, as well as all of the social and economic repercussions..
America stirs the pot from the otherside of the planet and have no direct links to the middle east so its fine for them to go in gungho as they are in a much safer position, putting Turkey into the EU gives whatever terrorists that are in the middle east a much easier route into Europe and once they are in, they'll vanish and pop up in 10 or so years time and blow us up.

All of the countries that are involved in this entire middle east problem are doing so for personal gain and not the greater good, there in lies the problem...

I don't get why people are surprised that the rebels in that region fired upon a Russian helicopter.

We've been hearing for ages that Russia had been attacking non IS targets like them to support Assad.

Yeah but it just goes to show how ridiculous the moderate/rebel facade is, they're no better than ISIS really and I bet they don't fight each other as they probably can't tell each other apart either.

In any other country someone who takes up arms against his government is a terrorist, if the Saudi's killed thousands of 'revolutionaries' we'd be supporting them so why is Syria any different?

If the so called rebels succeed all that will happen is Syria will fall into ISIS hands, even military experts are saying as much.

The US is in the Middle East because it has had an interventionist foreign policy since the events of WWI and WWII. We should be thankful for it, terrorism is a small price to pay for peace in the West.

Yes, but, as I have asked many people to do, and none have done, get 3 maps, on the first have where foreign conflicts are that cover things that they have used as an excuse to go into places like Iraq etc, second, where they have actaully gone in, and third, where the oil is...

Overlay the three..

In fact just for **** and giggles, get a fourth map with all of the places where bombing has helped the situation..
