Rust - multiplayer survival from the creator of Garry's Mod

Cant get the dam thing to load up :(

Firefox appears to load loads of stuff but then stops with a black screen and sad face, left it like this for 15-20 mins still not loading

Chrome starts to load and then gives a UnityWebPlayer error and stops responding

IE says something about being banned WTF

Did i just waste £10 on this sht?

sometimes the servers are down it doesn't tell you that's the problem, the united kingdom server is down atm we are waiting for it.

Tbh I think its worth waiting to get it on steam,as it doesn't guarantee u a steam key it says they will try there hardest to get u one which read'sto me,we won't be able to get u one sorry u will have to buy the game again.

Surely as any othe game that does this they can guarantee steam keys as others have?

Hmm once this comes on steam, might give it a go presuming its early access and not this auction nonsense. Looks like theyr doing something about hackers and exploiters.

I think they could at least honor refunds to the people who have already paid if they are unable to get steam keys. They have taken over 400k already they can't seriously expect all the people to pay that again surely?.

just noticed this on their main page

"Some time this week we will make the move to Steam and the webplayer will cease to be"

So if i don't get a steam key then i have paid for a game that is going to cease to be in less than a week?

Can you even start paypal disputes for things like this?

I cannot imagine they would have been selling the game by auction the week before moving to steam without a plan to issue steam keys or refunds at the very least to everyone who had already bought the game? To do anything else would be madness.

From the words of Garry:

Garry said:
We're nearly ready for the first phase of moving over to Steam.

In this phase the game won't be for sale on Steam - but we will give beta keys to all the alpha testers which will give you access to the game on Steam.
Ideally we'll turn off the webplayer version quite soon - so the only way to play would be via Steam.

The question is - would this **** you off? I know the webplayer has its advantages, and it's easily accessible.. but does anyone only want to play on webplayer? Considering that the Steam version boots up instantly, and the loadtimes are less than 5 seconds, and the framerate is higher?

From our point of view developing for the webplayer is kind of restricting in what we can do, and the speed in which we can put out updates. So our ideal situation would be to drop support for it completely and concentrate on the Steam version.

If you have an alpha key and register it you will get a steam key. It's just unbelievably retarded for anything else to happen.

but as the guy below you said you are not guaranteed a steam key , and £10 is a lot for something that seems to unbalanced so far with cheaters ruining it

You will get a steam key if you've already bought the game.

There are hackers sure, but I haven't come across that many yet (apart from a speed hacker that was moving so fast he couldn't hit me).

Haha, just thought id check the auction - 7 keys and it was at $6. Mulling over whether to bother - I already have too many games to play and boom, they all disappeared! So that answered the question lol.

So just managed to grab this before I went to work($9 roughly-£7.60 with tax) decent price I thought espically as this will give me access to the full game at release(I believe) and will be getting a steam key also as the site says:
Will I get a Steam Key?
If you have an account here and can play the webplayer version right now - then the answer is YES. If you buy an alpha key from this website before we stop selling them - the answer is YES. If you didn't ever buy an alpha key but you have an account from when we were giving keys away (or had open registration) - the answer is YES.

Thanks for everyone posting about the steam access also helped make my decision, so is there any groups on here playing this together? Who wouldn't mind a extra new person to group with?
Will have to give this a go when I get home today looks pretty good, quite excited to get playing this.

I see they have added the sleeper mode in,what's people's thoughts on that?

While logged into playrust.com, go to playrust.com/steamkey and you can grab the key there and install in Steam

The servers are the same as the webversion, so while you log in with a freshspawn, you can transfer stuff ftom your web character

Might have missed the boat?

must have just got in there before they stopped selling them!

This is from the site:

Will we be able to buy it on Steam too?
Not yet. This will be a super secret version that no-one else can see. We'll open it up for sale on Steam when we think it's ready (estimating a month or two).
