Ah certainly no road, i ran for ages and only saw grass and cliffs/trees. Will try again now.

With regards to shacks and doors etc. What is the point of them? If i have one and am in it does that stop people being able to attack me etc? or does it mean i respawn there?

you can just about stop people getting into your hut If you have a Metal door on, If you want you could join up with me and will help you get started.

I joined the cocky server, only thing that worrys me a little is that within 10 minutes of being on it i must have seen at least 5 or 6 airdrops. Surely the survival aspect is someone mute if people are just given amazing gears/materials?

Friendly server though, people seemed happy to help with my questions about the game which has made starting out a hell of a lot easier :)

A wooden door can be hacked down by a couple of people with pickaxes fairly quickly. Metal door has to be C4ed to get into. Most people won't bother C4ing a door if it is just on a small hut though.

You need to craft a sleeping bag and place it. Then every 5 minutes (so if you die within 5 mins of spawning there, you can't) you have the option of spawning at it (unless it has been destroyed).

The air drops have random loot. Sometimes you may just get a small amount of gunpowder or low quality metal. Often you will get flares. And rarely (depending on the server) you will get explosives/C4. You are not guaranteed 'game winning' loot every time.

The supply signal drops cost $10000 which take a while (couple of hours farming) to get as prices are $100 for zombies, $120 for wolves and $200 for bears, granted its a lot easier for people with guns to get them compared to those with hatchets etc

I'm surprised you saw that many as there is only usually a few in the daytime that are not the standard server drops, must have been somebody who got another drop inside his first which is possible

Edit: just spoke to one of our members and he did indeed have 5 to himself earlier that he saved up for since monday :D

Its my bad, literally only just heard about the money/buy stuff in the game lol. I kept seeing it pop up when i killed an animal but didnt know it did anything :P

Is there a way to list all prices/items available etc?
 
If you spawn near no resources hit F1 and typde suicide, it will kill you and you will respawn somewhere else. Its also useful if you are trying to find a friend as you can keep doing it till you find somewhere familiar. Also the first thing you need to do is harvest a bit of wood and to kill a pig or chicken for food, then make a fire and cook the food. Then i harvest more animals to get 15 cloth so i can make a sleeping bag. put it in your inventory and then place it somewhere safe. AT this point you can start to build a little shack and a door. Then harvest wood piles and stone piles till you have enough to build a furnace and work bench. once they are done you want to start harvesting metal ore and wood to build planks and metal fragments. This is so you can build a proper house with a metal door as shacks can be destroyed !! new people dont realise that shacks can be destroyed as i found out to my dismay so its not worth putting a metal door on one. So now you need enough wood planks to build 1 foundation, 3 walls, 4 pillars, a doorway and a ceiling. You will also need 200 metal fragments to build a metal door (which you can only craft at a work bench). Now you have all of these you can be relatively safe lol. I reccommend not logging out until you build it all as you will get burgled if you have a wooden shack or a wooden door. Also never light a fire at night as people will see you from miles. Always look for other people when farming resources as they WILL kill you and steal from you. We people come running over saying they are friendly 9/10 they arent and will kill you. Be VERY wary of people, especially before you have built your house with a metal door. OH and dont build your house where everyone can see it or near a busy area (such as a road or near resources) as it will get broken into. Never eat raw chicken breast as it will make you sick. Bandages are very useful so if you see a corpse rob them of their bandages. Good luck and remember its a Survival game !! its dog eat dog lol ** oh and build a stone hatchet as soon as you can as it will make farming a lot quicker than using your mighty rock !

/price will give you a list of items, only the basics on there at the minute (stone, wood, cloth etc and the supply drop) not sure on adding too much more tbh or even if people want the buying thing there at all, still trying to find the perfect balance to please most

Bought this earlier, will be joining that server sooner or later, if that's ok? :)
 
While these mods reduce the immersion of the vanilla game, they will certainly keep rust interesting over time and give players options. Why not try it? It can always be removed later, and players have a choice if they prefer the unmodded game.

After playing on regular servers for some months I am quite happy to try a new take on rust.

I take it this mod doesn't say who is doing the attacking, which is good IMO.
 
I've added it for a trial tonight, it only works when something is destroyed which is good as i had in-visions of people just shooting a building to set of peoples alarm. If people dont like it i will remove instantly
 
Having played dayz a lot, how fun is rust? I've heard nothing but good about it and its making me kind of itching to buy it!

Can you literally build anything like dayz? Or is there certain schematics you can get?

RUST is a blast. Having a lot of fun with it. So much that i got my own server because i didnt like many of the godmode/kill all admins out there..

If people want to join they can by pressing F1 ingame and write:
net.connect alphahangout.mooo.com:28055

Server is running with reduced crafting time, doorshare, PMs and other goodies.
There is also a 20slot murmur/mumble server attached if people are interested.
