Man this guys just rocks! i can't get over the amount of CL goals he scored, something like 18 in 19 games? (can someone confirm)
and he's one of top scorer even after missing a few games and be subbed off in a few other (for protection) i think he is gonna be one of the all time greatest CL scorers!
He could have had 6 yesterday!

Andy Cole got 18 goals in 41 games! and now Ruud with that in under half the amount of games!

could he catch Raul?

anyone know Raul's stats? age and games\goals?

He's a way to go yet before he starts being able to touch Raul, in ability as well as experience and records IMO

Can't find his scoring record anywhere though

[edit]Before the end of last season's Champion's League his total was 33

Know for a fact he scored after that last season and he's scored this season too

That header was top class, he jumped, was leaning back and still got enough power and precision to get it past the keeper. Hes definately earned the money we paid for him :)

Hopefully he can stay free of serious injuries....if so he maybe can catch Raul. Raul has got a big head start though and i cant see him not scoring in Europe.

PAH!!

Tap-ins everyone of them.

Most overated player in the entire team.

No, there's too many to mention; Beckham, Forlan, Butt, Nevilles, all their defenders...

thats very harsh! i am not sure how you can call Beckham over rated. and as for the defenders, O Shea was class last night and Wes Brown is getting better and better with each game.

as for Ruud he has 18 in 19, a fairly good record by any standard.

i love rvn but i hope he dose not die out towards the end of the sason like he did last year, that is when we will really need his goals.

I suppose he was comming back from a major injury last year though.

Ratty ;)

at the end of the day RvN's job was to come in and score goals any way he knows how. im sure fergy didnt tell him to score goals only from outside the box. he just told him, the rest of the team will get the ball and deliver it to you. once the ball is in the box its your responsibility to get it into the back of the net. something he does to crushing effect. dont forget that scoring tap-in's is a skill that not many strikers have. you have to have fast reflexes and a great instinct to score from such close range; you have a goal keeper who is probably clambering for the ball, as well defenders snapping at your heels, so u gotta have cool head.

if man utd have such a brilliant midfield that they can supply the ball straight into the box, to allow RvN to "tap-in" the ball, then is that really RvN's fault?

Does it matter where he scores from? he is an out and out striker, and also he has god good skill, vision, and can set up oppatunities for other players. He is awsome no denying it.

He was top scorer overall in all competitions wasnt he? Your telling me he is overatted. Doubt it

I agree, it does matter where he scores from, because if he consistently gets tapins hes hardly has many skill in the art of scoring. A good striker should be able to score from anywhere and anyhow. RNV only knows how to tap the ball in.

Hardly worth £17,000,000 or however much he cost. Thats why i think he is overated.

come on dude, he is top goal scorer in the CL, he is near the top of the premier league top goal scorers. what more do u want? by this, i would say it was £18m well spent. we baught the best finisher on the planet.

soon, if he does start to score from outside the box, you guys will start saying, "no, but i want him to score from the half way line" or "i want to see him score with a blindfold on"

at the end of the day man utd have one of the best mid fields in europe so let them get the ball to him, and he will then use his skill of "finishing" and get the ball into the net.

the midfield just has to get the ball in the box. RvN just has to get the ball into the net. its a lot simpler when u lay it out like this. in teams that dont have such a strong midfield, the striker will have to come deeper, get the ball himself and either 'dribble towards the box and shoot' or 'shoot from long range'.
