Rx 470 vs titan 6gb

Thats your problem, you pick a good PC and just use it for 2 years, your not changing to the latest parts every five mins and complaining when 5way SLI aint working with them cards that came out yesterday in every title yet on beta drivers.

Ok maybe i went a little OTT but im sure ya get what im suggesting :)

interesting never seen or heard of 5 way SLI? How about you Kaap? Again AMD drivers haven't been an issue in years - I've had more issues with Nvidia and Win 10 than ever with AMD. Will I say Nvidia drivers suck? No - but bullet proof not even....

We can easily list Nvidia's released a couple times card destroying drivers etc. Serious - single card they tend to be both solid; though I'd give edge to AMD specially in Win 10.....multi card - sli/crossfire always been hit or miss and bring their own issues.

Buying without a doubt 470.....faster than Titan - sep maybe couple older titles; will be much faster in DX 12/Vol uses a lot less power - there is no debate....;)

You only arrived after the months of TDR drivers.:p

Ok, well, Shadowplay 3 never know what res i'm running at if i leave the pre-record on.

Thats annoying, when you want to save something, hit the key only to find that its saved it in 720P.

I ended up going with the RX470. in the game that i play now it ran slightly better. 5-8 Fraps better. it was also cheaper and only a few months old.

thanks for every ones comments

That's where you're wrong. I don't just mean pure performance though the 470 would trash a Titan in a lot of newer games, especially dx12. The 470 is much more power efficient, has better support and basically newer is just better.

Same one I've got. Great card but you do have to tweak it a little to get the most of it. A lot of the reviews I suspect don't bother and have them at stock, but there is performance to be had from it if you do.

What setting you running at? gpu memory?

Good choice, now I can get back to laughing at those who were suggesting a used 3 yr old toasty Kepler Titan as the logical choice.:D

SP isn't a driver problem:p, besides it's not even pinky toe annoying as Raptr though.:D

I better stop now before I get grief for introducing some extra humour to the thread.:p

When I'm testing it I run it at 1250/1750 but it can do 1300/2000. The memory timings will slacken off if you push it over 1750mhz and make any overclocking meaningless so you have to either leave it stock or use a modified bios that prevents this. Then you can run it at 2000mhz memory with tighter timings.

The main thing to note is the card is power starved AND throttles even at stock. Luckily this is easily handled as all you need to do is increase it's power limit a bit and then up the fan speed a bit to stop it throttling.

Once you do all this you can run it stable at 1300mhz if you want and the temps should hover around 80c at most. At stock it would drop to under 1050mhz at times.

Wow, I wasn't replying to the op I was replying to your post??

I'm not sure what you're getting at mate. I said a 470 was miles better than a Titan in response to OP and you have thrown that back at me. What I think you're getting at is that the 480 is as far ahead performance wise over the 470 as the 470 is over the Titan. That said a 480 isn't much faster than a 470 and will also never blitz the 470 in dx12 or Vulkan. The 470 has a superior TDP to the 480 too.
I would argue the 470 and 480 are similar but the 470 and Titan are miles apart tbh.

Not really, I had a R9 290 and I feel the experience with NVidia has been better, I'd consider not going back to AMD if it wasn't for Freesync.

So you would rather have a slower old tech Titan over a faster up to date Rx470 as that's what he was getting at with people just blindly suggesting the Titan. Others have a better experience with AMD as has been said in this thread but that does not mean Nvidia are bad.

I disagree, having used many AMD and Nvidia cards over the past few years. There is literally no difference in the experience between the two, at least when using a single card. Both occasionally have some annoying little issues, but are generally absolutely fine. Personal experience may vary, but if AMD's drivers were simply bad, then it would be impossible for people such as me to have had so few issues with them. It's just a garbage meme from a bygone era.
