RYAN GIGGS

It is a pathetic and damning indictment on society that enough people give a stuff what somebody they have never met does that this has become an issue as big as it is.

Without the nosey, ridiculous gossip obsessed people that fuel the newspapers burning desire for this sort of trash news, nobody would have needed a super injunction in the first place.

What business of us is it who he sleeps with anyway? Why do we even care?

this.
I couldn't care less who he sleeps with and am not interested in the politics of it all.
seems like the whole situation was dreamed up to sell more newspapers

I don't understand why he's tried to keep it under wraps. It's made more of a media spectacle for trying to cover it up.

Has his wife left him?

but you are interested, aren't you? you showed how by reading this thread and posting in it

It's the way we have always been, and to an extent fox you are no different. You feed off of peoples details and try to get private information from them in a lot of motors threads.

Gossip has been around for longer than we have, there is just new ways to feed it to people than just over the garden fence to a neighbour.

I'm not even sure what your point is now. Are you? :p

My point hasn't changed from the start. The media started this to sell things knowing it would sell. Simple.

I don't dispute this - I totally agree.

At least over the garden fence it's more relevent I guess, because you actually KNOW the person. Nobody really knows Mr Giggs.

I'm not advocating a solution, I'm just moaning about society.

I for one wouldn't have known who this secret football player was if it weren't for this MP revealing it... I'm guessing a few million other people wouldn't have either.

who actually cares about it anyway, waste of a news story. Give it a week and he may be referenced to some other injunction, but it will be forgotten

It just amazes me. All the things going on in the world and the entire country is literally obsessed with which footballer slept with a reality TV star.

I cannot think of anything more pathetic.

I don't think who the player and the girl are the focus of the obsession.

The fact that wealth buys you a gagging order that even prevents it being known that you have taken one out which is used as a shield for you to shag about while trying to play the family man and brick it in case sponsors drop you like a Seal team over the Arabian sea is the reason we have seen such civil disobedience on a large scale.

It makes a mockery of free speech when the press can't name him yet Twitter is on fire with who he is.

Only thing is will he play the final now? And what must be the feeling in the United camp at the moment, dosent bode well for the game...

not only is he an idiot for cheating on his wife and kids, but united were pushing for a treble (only the double is possible now) he may be in the twilight years of his career but he was still a major part player and a role model to a lot of youngsters both on and off the pitch and he's jeopardised all of it to have a few bump sessions with a z list celebrity. well done, ryan. you were doing so well aswell! rooney will just be glad that he's not the one in the frame ....... for now.

I feel a bit 50/50 about this. On the one hand its a massive invasion of privacy, but on the other hand he's been a total **** and his position as a public figure (especially one kids look up to) makes his actions totally abhorrent.

Whats with all this kids stuff? They look up to him so what? Are you saying that in 15 years time are they going to cheat on there wife because of what he did?

Well if he hadn't gone and taken out a super injunction then relatively few people would care or even show any interest... gotta love the streisand effect.

Plenty of footballers cheat and the stories don't seem to last long, no one really cares too much - actively trying to bury this one has backfired quite spectacularly (and quite rightly so tbh... I really don't believe the courts should have the ability to prevent the press from publishing stories like this.)

The worst example is Andrew Marr who carried one questioning/criticising politicians over their personal lives whilst still holding a super injunction preventing anyone from publishing details of his own sordid affair.
