One of my favourite sporting events. Can't wait for this.

I'm tempted to have a bet on Europe. They do look a bit big at 7-4.

Teams:

USA - Keegan Bradley (WR14), Jason Dufner (WR9), Jim Furyk (WR23), Dustin Johnson (WR13), Zach Johnson (WR17), Matt Kuchar (WR15), Phil Mickelson (WR16), Brandt Snedeker (WR10). Webb Simpson (WR8), Steve Stricker (WR12), Bubba Watson (WR7), Tiger Woods (WR2).

Europe - Nicolas Colsaerts (WR35), Luke Donald (WR3), Sergio Garcia (WR19), Peter Hanson (WR25), Martin Kaymer (WR32), Paul Lawrie (WR28), Graeme McDowell (WR18), Rory McIlroy (WR1), Francesco Molinari (WR31), Ian Poulter (WR26), Justin Rose (WR5), Lee Westwood (WR4).

USA seem to have the edge on World Rankings but matchplay is a whole different game to stroke-play.

USA player average WR = 12
Europe player average WR =19

I personally think that Europe will have too much strength of character. Here's hoping! :)

love it - down side is the wife is away all weekend on a hen do and I have the 2 kids!!

Not missed a Ryder Cup since 1995.

I agree - I'm tempted to lump on Europe - 7/4 looks a BIG price. My only fear is the draw!!

I think I'll also have a chunky EW bet on Luke Donald to be top overall points scorer at 12-1 (1/4 1234). Seems pretty decent value.

And we're off!

Afternoon off, beers in, curry simmering, perfect! I thought people were exaggerating slightly about the rough being so short but there is absolutely nothing there. I wish my home course had rough like that.

Been looking forwards to this for the last week or so. Can't wait to get home and watch it on tv instead of sneaking peaks at the live text on the bbc at work!

I ended up backing Europe outright as well as Donald (12-1) and Snedeker (25-1) both EW for top overall point scorer.

I'll settle for 3-1 after these foursomes with Snedeker winning USA's point. :)

Snedeker and Furyk been flagged up for the ball moving on the first?!

Doesn't look like it.

I've got £25 on Mcilroy/G-Mac @ 10/11.

Looking good.

Or not.

FFS ... 3 up with what, 7 to play and now pretty much back to A/S.

Now Mcdowell blows a chance to win on the 18th, christ sake. Talk about throwing it away.

Wow... phew.

Crucial point for the pairing of Colsaerts and Colsaerts last night. :p Westwood was abysmal and I'm shocked he's being given another chance today.

Europe aren't out of this yet. As long as they at least draw 4-4 today, they're still in it. We'll then have to 'top load' the singles with our best players to shut the crowd up early on tomorrow.
