RYZEN 5000 SERIES NOW ONLINE - 5950X, 5900X, 5800X & 5600X COMING NOV 5TH AT 5PM **NO COMPETITORS**

The only official source I've seen at all is this PDF from AMD about the game bundle T&Cs. It states the validity period is 5th November 09:00 Eastern Time (14:00 UK time) onwards, which could imply they might be available for sale from that point and would validate what others have seen with European sites saying 15:00 their time.

If true. That would give 2 hours before release to make your mind up

Release is 2pm UK time according to every retailer that has so far given such information except OCUK. If true the review embargo is actually an hour after release... They'll likely have sold out before a single review is allowed to be posted.

I'm pretty sure that's the intention. Don't give people a chance to think on it so they get FOMO and panic buy
Buy before reviews because FOMO or wait until reviews and get scalped. About as anti-consumer as you can get tbh.

If this forum is anything to go by, plenty people with half built PCs just waiting for one, so they'd sell out without FOMO :D
Thats exactly what FOMO is dude... Those people will insta buy because they fear missing out and having hardware lying around wasted.

I mean, exactly, I have 90% of the PC build, I need a CPU. Literally doesn't matter what the reviews say, like at this point I'm not going to buy a 3xxx series and I'm upgrading from a 4790K so literally anything is better. The 5xxx series would need to be completely and utterly broken for some reason for me to reconsider, but if that's the case(unlikely) then I'll just return it.

I do imagine reviews matter if you're upgrading from something more recent, if you're already on 3xxx series then there might not be enough reason to upgrade. But if you haven't got a CPU and need one then reviews are fairly pointless.

Well, I'm afraid that yeah, I'll have all those parts sitting here doing nothing. I'm not however, afraid of missing out on some magical great part that will be the greatest thing ever - I'm not particularly bothered how much faster it is over equivalent 3xxx series parts.

But it's not really FOMO is it? They are already going to buy, so reviews won't change anything? If you've got the motherboard already, I guess you COULD buy a 3000 series, but why would you?

Its fear of missing out on something better than a 3000 series as they could always drop one of those cpu's into any hardware they have waiting for 5000 series. Semantics I guess but the result is the same...insta buy before having the knowledge to make an informed decision on exactly which part :). There's a lot of indecision still over the multi cluster parts compared to single cluster and which to get which reviews would certainly help clear up. I take your point though :)

Fair points but I guess I'm one of those people, and for me reviews are irrelevant purely because it's not going to be worse than a 3000 series and I won't buy something that's about to be superseded, especially as it's not significantly cheaper.

I'm on a 6700K at the moment and I've decided I want a 5900X based on what's known from the 3000 series. I tend to upgrade infrequently (at least compared to some here), so will often choose a more expensive part. 5950X is a stretch too far though. But could all be irrelevant depending on stock levels anyway.

Every other retailer in Europe is looking to launch at 2PM UK time. OCUK still aiming for 5PM? or will they follow with the 2PM too?

I've got more faith in the other retailers now since they've been able to confirm a time and come in at a better price.
