Oh and CS GO with maybe a touch of Total War Warhammer

I’ll leave the performance testing to the pros. Im sure someone on here will take up the challenge though.

Hopefully someone with a 13900ks with an Apex and over 8000mhz ram:eek:
Do you have yours? How is it in SC 3.18?

Fair enough. I only mentioned that as it’s a game I have in Steam. I’ve downloaded it now anyway so I’ll compare the results to the GN link you shared.

I will be happy to do some testing next week once I get things sorted and set up. You can maybe give me some pointers with my 3d if I get stuck? I’ve always been against AMD and this feels really quite dirty, like I’m cheating on Intel.

I look forward to seeing your R6 run.

Happy to, and welcome to the dark side.

@Grim5 Early testing shows GPU utilisation locked at 98% in Warzone 2, 4090 4K basic preset. This is with all 16 cores enabled and SMT on. Possibly not the fastest Warzone configuration, but I’ll test which is.

So what's the verdict is the 7900x3d a waste of silicone or does it scale well against the 7950x3d?

I just can't imagine AMD releasing a cpu that would get absolutely trounced by the next tier down?

As a desktop gaming part it’s like the RTX 4080, priced to high or underperforming.

So frustrating as I have my system completely built all it needs is the cpu and 7950x 3d chip looks like it will be out of stock for a while and I need more cores for my 3d print rendering so 7800x 3d is out but also heavily game

@LtMatt any chance you can share what kind of tweaking you did to your 7950X3D? I'm not seeing numbers anywhere close to yours in SoTR (more like 380fps CPU average).
Yes.

1. Disable Second CCD.
2. Disable SMT.
3. Clean OS, minimal background apps running.
4. 360 AIO +Liquid Metal +100% fan speed.
5.Latest Chipset drivers, game mode enabled in windows and Game bar updated and enabled
6. Tuned CPU, using curve optimiser -28 all core. PBO enabled, max power limit scalar x10.
7. Tuned memory, 6200MhzC28 64GB dual rank, with FCLK at 2167mhz.
8. BIOS memory options, Disable memory power down.

According to CapeFrameX the latest AMD chipset driver is causing windows to park cores on non v cache CPUs

For example here the second CCD on this 7950x is parked using the latest drivers

This behaviour was observed and reported by users on the pcgameshardware german forum

The question I want answered is this intended and is it better/worse/neutral for performance

Looks like the extra cores may affect performance more so than keeping just the v cache ccd active

I don’t like all this turning things off. It should work as intended. I hated having to do this in Star Citizen on my 13900k. It was literally unplayable though without disabling e cores.
