Will you be purchasing the 7800X3D on the 6th?

I put No to the 7800X3D but knowing what I’m like if it peaks my interest and they don’t fly out the door, I may pick one up.

Im not going to sit there f5’ing though. If it’s there when I look, maybe.

Same approach to the 4090, which is why I don’t have one yet.

If there is stock yes I plan on buying at launch...big ‘if’ I suppose. Let’s hope they have more stock lined up than they have with the 7950x3d

Considering that in some of the GPU threads there are those who advocate for only owners of the product posting in threads about the product,it's interesting that this poll shows 65% of the posters in this thread have to intention to buy these CPUs

I'm not getting one simply because I won't see a difference from upgrading. My VR headset tops out at 90fps and my 5800X3D has no problem feeding 90FPS on anything I run.

I'm sure the 7800X3D is capable of getting more FPS than my current CPU, I'm just not capable of seeing them with my current display(s).

Probably just been doing their research and decided the gains aren't sufficient. My 5800X3D is more than enough for now.

Exactly this, I follow this thread as I am interested in Zen4/5 etc but for my current usage my 5900X is more than capable and see no reason to change for at least a year or two.

5800x3d is enough for me and I only game, its paired with an 3080 for 1440p

decent AM5 board , DDR5 and 7800x3d would cost best part of £900+ and 3080 would only hold it back so dont see the point cant justify new platform cost plus new gpu still happy with the performance of the 3080

next upgrade will likely be GPU will try to hold on till next gen ( should at least have cards in the £600-£700 with decent uplift from the 3080) as I aint paying current prices only cards that imo worth the uplift from 3080 are 4080/7900xtx
and by that time AM5 CPU/ Board should be better priced / DDR5 pricing is already pretty good now

No, because the tactic appears to be from the manufacturers low stock to generate interest / FOMO - And given its been delayed for so long, theres really no excuse for that - Must admit ive been tempted, but realistically, theres no point.

My problem is even people with all the top kit are still having problems running the latest console poops. If i could buy the top of the line kit and know i'll be able to max all games out at 4k for the next year or 2 i would consider it even at todays extortionate prices.

I'd like one but the day one retail buying experience (****show) really puts me off, I get there is an initial supply demand issue and that isn't the retailers fault but I think retailers could do a lot more to make the experience better with queues, verification and pre-orders.

I'll probably pick one up on the next drop, I'm in no rush and as I'm waiting for the launch of the Lian Li 011D XL EVO so it would make sense to get it all together. I think it'll be a nice upgrade from my i7 9800k.

Biggest issue is that the 'gaming' reviews won't actually include games like Stellaris or Cities Skylines where tic rate is more important than FPS. The lack of proper testing for a much broader scope of gaming is a real shame.

As for getting one, probably no. Already have 5800X3D and will hold onto that until Zen 5 X3D at the earliest.

LTMatt what were the apps you said to stress test with, you said one tell you which core failed etc. I cannot find the post now.

Did you manage to source that MSI Tomahawk in the end?
I gave up! I couldnt find it anywhere that didn't want £400 or had crazy import fees (either US or EU), I ended up on the ASUS TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI. It seemed to have everything I need and seemed to perform well - hopefully not a mistake heh. I think it was one you mentioned earlier on and I found it at a good price (£335), so it seemed a no brainer comparing to the prices of other boards! (and it was more like £360+ elsewhere)
