Ryzen Safe Voltage

well ive just decided to rag the hell put of the chip

im sticking to 3.95Ghz @ 1.380V 24/7 with temp of 68-73C if it dies it dies.

Thinking back switching from my 5930K to 1800x was pointless but interesting. a lot of weird issues with this architecture.

Completely with you, last 2 bios revisions for me have broke more than they have fixed. Cool boot is worse than before although it's been there since day 1. Stuttering in older games, people having issues with CPU locked at 1.55ghz. They are taking far too long to fix these issues.
 
Update: I am now at 39.25 MHz with 1.440v. Maximum overclock possible. I have calculated that 39.50 MHz will take at least 1.464v. and I reckon 4 GHz would need over 1.5v. Shame as the temps are under 80c on stability tests. I'll stop my tinkering for now though I think :-)

This is totally fine not ragging by any means.
 
1.42 ish BIOS, drops down to 1.35 ish under load as not using any LLC. don’t like the overshoots, better to have a higher idle voltage in my mind.

Would be ideal I agree. Particularly power consumption and heat.
 
Starting to think Gigabyte have dropped the ball on their Ryzen boards... do any of them have p-state overclocking? I know at least some of the full-ATX flavours have proper voltage control, but on the whole, they're not very OC friendly.
 
Just the 7 I think.

I do think the 5 is best of the rest coming in significantly under the VI and taichi but next time I’m going to spend the extra.
 
How are people running above 1.35volts? If I go above that I get instant thermal shut down as soon as I load it up. And that's WITH watercooling.
 
Yeh 1.35 is about 60-70c but any more than that and it goes above 70 which shuts it down.

Sometimes I do wonder if my setup is not right. Was the same on my i7 3770k would run high 70s to mid 80s at 4.6ghz
 
Something wrong with your setup then. 1.35v for me is about 60c ish. At 1.45v I was getting about 73c.

Thats with a Noctua NH-D14.

if your getting thermal shutdown you must be much higher than 70C
 
i cant check my VRM temps anymore because AIsuite doesnt run anymore. fatal errors every time (multiple reinstalls and versions later) and im not sure what software can check it.

Yeah I've noticed with my 1600 rig that voltage over 1.35V will result in a significant increase in temps. I'm running mine at 1.33V at 3.9GHz and normally load temps are in the low 50s, if I increase VCore to over 1.35V the load temps get into the low-mid 60s.
