Zaf posted a thread about missing the Search feature. Gilly lost control of his ban hammer for a bit, normaility has now resumed.

Someone made a thread asking where the search had gone, and I think Gilly got a bit carried away and permabanned anyone that said anything bad about it, including me.

Guess the stress of Don-ship must be taking its toll....

Hi, I'm not sure exactly why you have disabled the search function, I guess reading through a few hundred posts might solve that but. . . .

I have noticed at the bottom of the forum this:- 'Powered by: vBulletin Version 3.0.7'

The latest version on http://www.vbulletin.com/ is Version: 3.6.8 it looks to me that these forums havent been updated to fix all the latest bugs & hack exploits for probally a year or two. Maybe that would resolve the problem if thats the actual cause?

We're fully aware of the latest version and are looking in to whether that would actually help.

Unlikely, it's probably been optimised since but the main module will still be the same. I reckon it would help ease the problem slightly, but not fix it.

Any reason why the board hasn't been updated in a while anyway? The forum generally works well but, there's always room for improvement.

Did anyone noticed my previous post about the search function which can be enabled for thread titles only?

That way, it searches for thread titles only, not body so it will be a lot less demanding on server!
