S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl Worth Playing?

Clearsky was my favourite :o. It also has the red forest, which is one of the most atmospheric and creepy places in all 3 games.

Not going to lie, I ran through the red forest jumping at every little sound... Especially since IIRC it comes just after that huge underground section which really builds up the atmosphere

^ got jump scared last night and was genuinely happy about it! Just searching a house and turned around, this boar/monster was right in my face! It wasn't scripted just came on naturally due to the atmosphere. I've stuck with complete mod for now running on Veteran

Been playing a horror game recently called evil within and I'm like 10hrs into that and not had a scare once! And it certainly tries.

Have downloaded it with IE, checked the finished download with Defender and Malware bytes, nothing, odd that Firefox decided there was something wrong, first time I've seen Firefox refuse to download because of something like that but seems fine, have the mod installed and will start a new game tonight, looking forward to it :)
It's the .exe installer that sets alarm bells ringing, Norton flags all the Stalker mods with .exes, Downloading through Moddb is a good idea as once a file is uploaded to the site they lock it until they've had a look at it and if it's clean they authorise it for others to download, I've put a few Stalker mods on the site and it sometimes takes a day or two for them to get authorised so they do check them.

Could not get Autumn Aurora 2.1 working with my original Stalker patched up to 1.6, although that game worked OK in Win10 64 before I tried installing the mod.

Tried GoG Stalker SoC, again it worked fine in Win10 64, installed Aurora 2.1 and crash as soon as I try to launch!

Had a google and found on GoG forum that if I install the mod without ENB enabled it will work, it did, read also that if you then launch from the game folder settings exe it will launch with ENB (whatever that is?) enabled, this works too.

It looks great, very atmospheric, different starting location and cant seem to find that suit that helps in the early part of the game through the hole in the roof? not sure if its been removed for this mod? can anyone confirm? Off to raid the bandits now.

Will hard save, in fact that's all I ever do, there was something about not getting the PDA too cluttered as well for the mod? I guess not to many unfinished quests helps in less game crashs? we'll see.

Pretty sure it says to use 1.4 to run it in the notes. I got it to launch ok by using the 1.0.0.4 gubbins in the extras folder.

With Misery 2.2 or whatever the latest one is its as hard as nails. I cant even get past the first 3 dogs that come running at me. Unplayable to be honest.

You can always watch my crappy playthrough for some tips if you want (no commentary), though it's one of my older videos so the quality is rather naff. No doubt, there'll be plenty of higher res, less muddy looking ones on the tube for sure. :)
