S2000 Info Please :)

the S2000 in my opinion is one of the best of sports cars in the world. the f20 engine is very reliable and can be tuned to very high bhp and torque figures. I personally would look at spending around 9,000 on a gt model with the hardtop and then start modifying, my s2000 now runs at around 450bhp 380lbs torque at 7000 rpm using a t30 hybrid turbo. modyfications can range from minor horsepower and economy boosts to full on turbo or supercharger conversions.
If you are looking down the supercharger route i would go for the rotrex kit from advanced motorsport, silverstone.
the musts for this car are exhaust system and air filter, then having the ecu flashed taking the rpm liimiter upto the jap spec and vtec bought in a bit earlier.

Hope my ramblings have helped. any questions or info i have lots of tuning friends and companies i can pass you onto.

oh and i have only ever seen one f22 engined ap2 and that was an import. not saying they dont exist over here though

i said we have, at the distribution center, uk spec/supplied/not grey import AP2's on 09 plates for sale, a broucher from 07/wiki is out of date.

i have seen Berlina black, moon rock, and that yellow which the name escapes me, sat next to a bunch of unreleased stuff

i will get photos, including chassis codes

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I have here a list of the S2000's that were registered in 2009 in the UK, and they are all listed as 2.0. It's not impossible that there is a mistake in the data, but I'm somewhat sceptical as a 2.2 doesn't appear in the emissions data either.

Steady chap.

I'm a total S2000 fanboy and will happily post videos of me keeping up with all sorts on track days... but one of the best sports cars in the world?

sorry yes i realise what i have written there, yes i am a huge fan of the s2000 but i meant to have written one of the best BUDGET sports cars in the world. my mistake, thanks for the correction though.

To the OP for the amount of money you have you will get a 2004 or possibly 2005. Try to buy one from the S2000 forums because often or not the owner would have had the geo sorted so no seized bushes. To give you an idea I bought a 2004 plate and all the back end was seized. To get it sorted cost me £700 from Centre mavity that's including a geo. Worse case scenario, GarageR can polybush the whole car for around 1k but CG will charge you the earth I would say £1500 at least. For your geo depending where you are go to Wheels in Motion or GarageR, they will be a lot cheaper.

Wheels in Motion are great value for money. With my own provided polybushing and a lot of labour and full Geo I paid ~£700.

I lost a whole day because of incorrectly sized bushings for my model revision and had mainly 2 chaps working on the car to get it finished, I literally moved into thier workshop for 2 days.

I had no seizing whatsoever though :)

This is 100% correct.

I LOVE my S2000, everytime I look at it with the roof down and the sun shines off it I just fall in love again, however it is so damn unpractical, and In the winter sometimes its pretty hairy (I do a lot of early morning driving so when its icey).

I wouldn't buy any other car for 10k (as long as you dont need any practicality!). Unfortunatly I might have to sell mine after this summer, need 4 seats and a larger boot :(

well after looking at insurance looks like a no go!

Cheapest I have found was around the £1300 mark, one was cheaper (came in at around £1100) but the excess was £3000!!!! Insurer was called High XS or something silly! hehe

I know its a fair jump from my ST220 but I'm only paying £450 for that! Rang my current insurers, Greenlight, and asked about S2000's and Z4's and they said they don't cover S2000's due to too many claims in the past and the Z4 was classed as a 'high performance car' and therefore they were unable to quote me on that either. Grr!
