Sad, but inevitable

I don't cry over any death I see in the news, I'd find it strange for people to get sad about people they don't know.

But, I also don't take the ****. ;)

O well, black humour - I'm sure you've laughed at a wrong/sick joke once in your life. I bet that was about something even more well known than a couple randoms. Anyway, I'm taking the **** out of the cop that looks like a traffic warden.

Of course I have, but, putting something in writing on the internet for all to see is completely different to joking with your mates.

Oh I see, so joking about it with your mates is ok... Oh damn, I've typed it.. am I going to hell?

I've always assumed that us the British make light of bad situations and death with the use of jokes. It's nothing to do with lack of respect or having no feelings it's just our culture and how we deal with things.

It seems that it's a trait that could be fading though.

A private joke between friends isn't the same as posting on a public forum. Not that I am advocating either, but there is a big difference between the two.

I realise it was very sad, but driving on the wrong side of the road for "a couple of miles" is just retarded. It's not even like she was French, the article says she was local!
You're really asking for it in GD, coming out with a disrespectful and distasteful comment that's also sexist, and then you add xenophobia to the charge.

As for what's been said about "false sympathy", it's not a bad thing that people are touched by the plight of others; it's called "being human" and is something we should aspire to IMO.

You made an error posting what you did, just have a think about it, apologise and move on. It's not as though no-one else has ever made a mistake :)

Incidentally, true story - I once rounded the corner on my motorcycle, at some speed as you can imagine - the road was a dual carriageway, but at this point the road had split so I was on my own, on my side in the nearside lane when I saw the strangest thing - a car driving in the opposite direction, driven by an ancient man with his wife looking as though she was scared witless. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! If I'd been in the outside lane, I'd have been 6' under. It was horrific but shows that this does happen with sometimes tragic consequences. :(

ive seen someone driving towards me on the a19 before and believe me its quite scary , had to slow right down and pull over onto the side ,

was a woman in a newish range rover totally oblivious was a WTF moment ,mate rang the police and told them but dunno what happened after that

That someone would let a woman behind the wheel of a car...

I've found that generally most women can be guided with phrases such as "Go socialise, woman" or perhaps "Clean the dishes, woman" but you just can't GIVE a woman skills that she can NEVER posess through verbal instructions.

You're not single by any chance are you?

I sat on the A38 going nowhere for 45 minutes this morning. It was fun and exciting.

Was it near the Lee Mill junction? I could imagine someone coming out on the wrong side there if their attention was elsewhere.

Whilst I find his comments exceedingly distasteful on the women front, I geniuinely believe he was thinking about France being the closest country in which people drive on the right hand side of the road that time :)

Stop being so pathetic, someone drove down the wrong side of the road for several miles, that is funny, even funnier that it was a woman.

where is your multitasking ability when you need it ey?

Yes it was the Plymouth side of the Lee Mill junction. Although reports are that the car joined the A38 at the Ivybridge junction.

It's not funny at all. Innocent people were killed as a result of her ineptitude and stupidity.

Plus now my fuel economy counter has dipped below 30mpg in the resulting queue.

You still stuck there Fox?

Was the OP meant to be a joke? Or was it just some sub-Jim Davison attempt to imply that all women are poor drivers? Either way, you're a berk.

On the subject of people going the wrong way - was about to enter a slip road from a roundabout onto a dual carriageway when a bloke....sorry, in nobber style that should read A MAN! drove up it the wrong way, almost had a head-on collision.
