It's the "English" formation and style of football, that's still used by the majority of English football sides today, also, it's the formation that Sir Alex used at United.

In my eyes he seems to not play 442 now when he may be well advised to eg better usage for Berbatov and has not played 442 to a good effect since Cole and Yorke clicked for that one season of brilliance.
