Sagging!

I noticed that my 6950 2gb card with an aftermarket cooler (Gelid Solutions Icy Vision Rev.2)is sagging at one end because of the weight and I would like to have that end supported somehow.

Got any ideas?

Only thing i can think off is making a pole sort of thing just the right hight from the bottom of my case to the card but it wont look very good. (have see through window mod).

Ive heard about those cardkeeper things,i emailed them asking which one would be suitable for my 6950 and they wouldnt really give me a proper answer...plus going by the desighn of those cardkeepers it wouldnt be any good anyway because of the 2x 6pin power plugs been where the cardkeeper would have to support the card = cutting down the card keeper which would defeat the whole point of having it. :D

hey, never even knew about those Scythe ninja wire, that actually looks just what i need, and ithe top of my case inside has preferated holes so id be able to hang it from there.!

thanks man!

Oh this is what I need as well! I was jus going to post a thread asking the same!(although I was going to call it bending not sagging tbh :))

Edit: It seems like you have to attach it to the pci-e power cables, is that right?

They tend to sag a bit at old age and don't have the performance to keep up with the younger models.

The graphics cards aswell apparently......... :p:p

No worries mate :)

On an unrelated note, how far does your 860 clock? Mine hits a barrier at 4.6 under water, cannot get it stable even with 1.6v :(

Could you get creative with some large cable ties? I used to have a cradle of them holding up my old 8800 when I strapped some 120mm fans to it. I anchored them to the bottom screwholes on the side panel of my case.

I actually have a bracket that overclockers fitted to my pre built system a couple of years ago. Its a plastic 'arm' that is screwed on with the graphics card back plate and then stretches down the side of the graphics card. I can't remember the name of this 'arm' and i think its printed on the side of the device but i can't be bothered to take the side off my case to look.

Edit: Well, it would have bugged me not knowing what this device was called, so i checked. It's called a 'cardkeeper'

Is this cardkeeper with your 6950?

When i ordered my system from overclockers it came with a 4850 which the cardkeeper was attached to. I then upgraded to a 4870 and used the cardkeeper on that. I now have a reference 6950 which i thought the cardkeeper would not fit on but it does. The 4850/4870 where held up by the cardkeeper by the circuit board bit the 6950 has little ridges running down the side so it seems to work. Sorry about the blurry camaraphone image.

Easy, yes! Upgradable, No! _ I already have installed a VGA only block to the 6950, I tried to use the stock back plate but the screws of the VGA Supreme is bit too big.

I think you are referring to the Full cover block. My one is not full cover it is VGA Core Only! So when you fix the core block the back plate skrew holes are too small to fit from the top.
