Sainsburys

Anyone fancy emailing the beeb?

It's a pretty good story, and may nudge sainsbury's into fulfilling all orders if worded correctly ;) .. a nice story congratulating sainsbury's on making christmas that little bit better for everyone would go down a treat!

If I am not in to take the call and they come to deliver it, am I elgibile to refuse delivery if they are charging full price?

oh well haha, i bottled out and canceled my 2 orders but then instantly regretted doing so.

I shoudl have just called them and asked if they were going to honour it or not.

damn im getting too sensible these days :(

good luck with everyone elses....

I expect its goign to be down to individual stores if they do accept it, knowing my tory infested, granny poo hole they will kick up a stink!

Well i havent had any phone call yet and my first delivery date is tomorrow, then the next is on monday.

The emails verified the price i was gonna pay, and i saved the pages. They can either choose not to honour my purchase, or let me have them discounted.

there aint a chance in hell they will get away with charging us full price.

Ill just say i recieved the email thinking it was legit, and that the site showed no problem with it.

I'm sure that this happened a year or two ago as well - a few friends and I paid about £5-10 each for about £200 worth of booze!

I find it hard to believe that Sainsbury's have made the same simple mistake twice, which leads me to believe that it might be something of a publicity stunt - after all, didn't Thresher's still make a profit with their massive 40% discoutn vouchers recently?

aye, but 43 quid off something over 60 quid.. thats serious discount man, i doubt they can profit from that lol

The Threshers one was only on wine and champagne I think, and most of their stuff is buy 2 get one free anyway (33% off). They're also a lot more expensive for alcohol than supermarkets, so will be making more profit on each thing to start with.

Not saying it won't happen - but many a thing said over the phone has changed once a company has decided on the official policy.

And surprise, surprise.
All the greedy ones have spoilt the voucher system for all.
If people don't take the **** with these things then they will stay valid and everyone will get a go.
But there will as always be people who decide to take the selfish route, multiple orders etc and then we all lose out.

It's Sainsburys fault for allowing their system to be exploited, they send out codes that could be used accumulatively and by anyone, it's their fault. And what the point of them being there if they don't get used? I got ~£120 worth of shopping for £50 and I don't feel bad for 'spoiling it for everyone', sounds like sour grapes if you ask me.

Telling them what, that someone leaked vouchers to millions of people that didnt have them?

As I said in the original thread, you have no right to anything here and if you choose to take the **** they can quite rightly refuse the sale.

Well I've got two deliveries scheduled for tomorrow, see how it turns out. I've not got much food in, and a lot of what I ordered was stuff a friend and I agreed on buying for a party, which would have come from the local Sainsburys anyway, so if I get the money off super, and if the delivery driver tells me I'd be getting charged the full amount if I keep it, I'll just have to pay the full amount.

The same'll have to go for the two deliveries friends are getting sent here because their areas are fully booked! :p

Apparently all the Sainsbury's in my area [Tameside] are refusing to honour any orders placed with the vouchers. Also you probably wont receive a phone call until the day of delivery, as that is usually when they do the shops.

I once managed a pub that sold bottles of Carling for £1, at a time when the normal retail price in pubs was about £1.75. We made a healthy profit due to the huge volume of sales. Think they were about 30% GP, which was less than half of the average wet GP, but it was a sacrifice worth making because it brought in lots of new regulars, and a lot of people shifted from pints of Carling to two bottles at a time. Although that didn't make much difference for the company, it noticeably affected turnover and hence made it easier for us to reach our targets! :D

They rang me this morning about my third order and said that I could only have 1 voucher, so that would only be £12 off :( so I cancelled that one, still can't compain though, I did allright!

The fact that their system checked and verified the codes surely means that they would be on a sticky wicket.

I doubt that - if it says on the voucher or in the T&C's anywhere that the code is not transferable then they won't have to honour it legally. Some will get the freebies, some won't - it's pot luck i guess!

if you look at the order confirmation email its says and i quote

"You have used 7 vouchers to the value of GBP 43.00 on this shop. If you have e-vouchers which you would like to use for this order you can still add these - see amending your order below."

So after using all the vouchers they are still inviting you to use more !!

Then if they aren't transferable surely they should be able to be used only once per code?
