Saints Row 2 makes fun of GTA4.

Great advert. The graphics aren't as impressive as in the original Saints Row, something just looks a little off with them. That being said, it sure looks a lot of fun with all the activities and having fun is what gaming is all about. This could be a real hit if it delivers on adverts like that.

It's not even slightly as bad as last gen GTA graphics, don't say silly things like that.

But that's what I think, I'm not saying it to get a rise out of anyone.

Obviously they arent the same as last gen graphics, They just resemble them, It look to me like a polished last Gen GTA. A little bit like Bully last Gen VS Bully Nxt Gen.

I'm not looking for people to agree, And disagree all you like, I just think that from looking at that trailer.

But then again, GTA4 has great graphics, But I'd swap them for the gameplay factor this looks to have.

Looks great, if the gameplay is as good as SR1 then I don't mind if the graphics are slightly off GTAIV's level. They look more than acceptable in that video anyway.

Wasn't exactly razor sharp in GTA4 though. All the comedy was left outside the game itself.

Satire doesn't have to be whacky to be funny.

Saints Row 2 looks like it's trying to appeal to the Jackass audience. Good luck to them, but I won't be buying it.

I know it doesnt, But in older GTA games, It was. And I find a lot of the fun is missing from GTA4.

For example, 1 thing i remember is in GTA3 San Andreas, When the fat guy is ordering his meal at the beginning, I thought that was hilarious. :D

I thought I read an interview where they said this one was going to be more gritty and dark ? seems to contrast somewhat with the comments so far on this trailer ?

This looks rather good, hopefully it'll show GTA4 up for what it is - a pile of over hyped poop.

That does look a lot of fun, and kudos to the devs for standing up and unashamedly comparing themselves to the might of GTA.

Satire generally isn't wacky. My point is that GTA4 wasn't really funny in either satirical or wacky ways. The comedy was left to Brucie, nothing else was that good about it in terms of comedy.

The script wasn't that strong, it followed the game along and allowed it to progress, but if it were a book or a movie people would slate it.

The story itself probably will be, but they are showing how Saints Row can actually be fun, something which GTA4 has been universally panned for.

Damn, I wanted to hate Saints Row 2. I hated hated hated Saints Row, but this instalment does look to be a hell of a lot of fun.

Sums up my feelings, so I'm quoting it :)

exactly, none of that stuff was story, just the sandbox elements of it I think.

I wonder what they'll do with the story, and how well they'll balance it with sandboxness.

*I* think it would awesome if you arrived in the city, or wherever you come from armed with a few dollars - you're able to do pretty much and interact with any key characters within the game from the start. I'm sure it'll have gangs, so you could become part of one and work your way up through its heirarchy, gaining rep with them and losing it with rival gangs (bit like gta3 (or was it SA?)) But then later on there could be an optional mission to completely screw over that gang and gain favor with another if you get bored - swapping factions or whatever.

OR you could just ignore gangs and do whatever you like, mug people by yourself, steal and sell cars - get money that way... I dunno... Or join the police or something like that.

So long as it doesn't involve dancing with stupid friends ala gta4.

I just wanna blow stuff up and hurt people when I feel like it. I don't care if the whole city's after me... chases are fun.

They do have a point, GTA seems to have lost its way all the mini-games and dating etc is a big waste of time both in development and for us gamers, unless you live in a basement and don't get out much - even then I can't see where the fun is in it.

A really large create a character, so you'll probably create another character.
I hope they still have the same vocal talent, Saints Row was amazing in that respect.
