Saints Row 2 release date?

Another multiformat disaster then....for PC gamers that is.

Its almost as if it's a deliberate strategy by the games industry to push PC gamers over to consoles. I was excited for this game initially but when they screwed around with the delayed PC release I kew it would be a joke.

Sounds worse than GTA IV performance wise....dear oh dear

why don't you just buy an xbox for £100 and then you can play it. that's what i did. games like that are made for the console, and then they just port them for some extra cash, you can't moan about it if you know it will happen. i got really peed off with it at first and then brought a cheap xbox so i can play GTA4 / SR2 and so on, inface they are the only games i do have! apart from footy ones

No, poor controls, no AA options, and requirement of nice tv to have any decent graphics. Aside from the true exclusives and earlier release dates I see no advantage of a console. GTA IV is much better on pc for example, don't understand how people can play with 33 avg. fps and on a controller, it felt so disconnected and remote when I played it at my mates, mouse + kb plays much better imo, it's more immensive and the 360 controller is way too big for my hand ( but the ps3 controller is good I guess, but it's not for this type of game imo)... Although initial reports about SR2 seem to suggest it's crap, I'm still yet to try it and make my own judgment...

The thing is GTA4 runs and looks good now after getting a gfx card with acceptable VRAM :)

Could be better but 30fps is pretty decent for smooth gameplay at high settings!

nforce

absolutely worst game ever.. i have to thrash my computer now since its contaminated by this utter crap

i started up the game expecting a gta clone basicly with worse graphics.. boy was i wrong

1. horrible animations.. HORRIBLE no feeling at ALL
2. graphics is really **** compared to.. anything
3. feeling of cars = absolute ****, no physics at all, feels like a game some buddy has made in school
4. combat is laughable
5. sounds are just ****
6. just overall unpolished (and we are talking unpolished crap, thats bad)
7. poor optimization (another **** port)
8. poor physics, very poor if there actually is any real physics

A rush-job utter crap port unfortunately. Don't bother wasting bandwith or hard-drive space.

yep uninstalled it too, this games is just unplayable ****

I tried it and it seems to be utter crap

I've also been seeing a LOT of complaints about performance. Jesus Volition... way to **** up

Even the pirates are mad :D

Didn't like the original SR, played a little bit but got bored quickly, I enjoyed all GTAs but just couldn't get into SR. I'm not sure if the second one is for me either.

well i just a xbox and have it linked to my wide screen monitor and don't bother with the ports, i find it's not worth the trouble. yes you may getter better graphics and so on, but most of the time bugs wreck the whole thing

Well at least GTA4 is very polished and good animations and physics :p

Indeed, it's one of the first things I noticed when I played GTA4 after sending SR2 back. It just looks, feels and sound so much better. The comments quoted by Neil are spot-on - everything looks quite flat and basic. They've put a lot of effort into some things and no effort at all into others, and it shows.

Cancelled my pre-order for this months ago after seeing how poor it looked in the screenshots for the PC version (like a dated PS2 port bad).

Textures look awful & the overall gfx design is bland. Even the console versions have lots of complaints about poor gfx & gameplay and their standards are usually much lower so you know its going to be much worse on the PC as expectations are always much higher.

looks meh
Makes GTA4 look like F1 Simulator by the Codemasters. It utterly destroys GTA4 in terms of gameplay and missions.

Saints Row was never going to be about visuals but raw gameplay. Even the cut scenes are a million miles better than GTA's.

Ya rly :D I've played both to the death on the 360 loooong ago. GTA4 shines during your first playthrough and then the replayability just vanishes. No pizza the hut missions, no taxi missions, no ambulance missions - nothing retained from the GTA formula. After the engame there are a limited amount of cars you can collect before it gets stale.

SR2 just expands on the winning formula of SR1. Granted the vehicle handing is as crap as ever (try arming your car with wide tyres then) but the humour, detailed car customisation, colossal amount of activities, some of which are hidden and the best oldies radio station that your character actually can sing along to (listen closely) just made SR2 miles better. Hell I recall the fanboys on the gtagaming forum even admitting to that last year.

Not sure why PC gamers were expecting a great game visually, that was like asking Doom to look good in this day and age. It was never about that from the start.

but this is this year, and on PC - which makes it much different especially if it's running worse than gta4...

IGN Review:

Presentation:8.0
Everything feels as gangster as it should. The world is easy to navigate, though the GPS can be a bit wonky. Production values aren’t quite what they could be.

Graphics:5.0
A terrible framerate significantly hurts the overall look. Screenshots look nice, so long as settings are turned to 'high.'

Sound:8.5
Songs play a bit too often on the radio but there’s a good selection of stations to pick from. Voice acting is very good and effectively pushes the plot.

Gameplay:6.5
Varied missions, insane activities and fun diversions make for a very fun experience. It's too bad the technical failings kill the bulk of the fun.

Lasting Appeal:8.5
Having the entire campaign available for two people to play is great. Missions get slightly monotonous at times but there’s always multiplayer for a quick reprieve.

OVERALL:6.3 (Passable)

I was really looking forward to this. Seems the performance really ruins the game. Meh. There should be a law against this now - Put stickers on game boxes I say.......'Warning: Poor Console Port. Performance may suck'.

Yeah true. Anyway PC smells of wee :p Maybe they'll sort the issues out with a few patches.
/me runs for the hills...

It’s the same for the 360, it’s like going back to 2004 and playing a game, it doesn’t belong in 2008/2009 the graphics are shocking and the physics are dire, look at the reviews they seem to say the same thing.
