Saints Row vs San Andreas

Er, I'm confused now.

So are we now going back to sillymode and saying that graphics and A-List actors make a better game?

~J~ is confused?

I said above that I felt Saints Row had better elements, voice acting being one of them as I said it had better vocal talent (which it does), so I posted a list so people didn't have to go searching.

Problem with these two titles is that even though they're horribly close, they're also very much apart in certain areas. You just can't win.

SR has better car customisation, but SA has more vehicles. I compared SR heavily vs SA in my review but came to the conclusion that SA was just a bit more fun. I mean it's just great to go skydiving or visit the huge locations SA has to offer. SR has an airport...but sadly streaming so much data just wasn't feasible for aircraft to be added.

Hmm, I still have to get that 1million dollar achievement in SR! :o

Thats what I found wrong with SA you would get bored and just going wrong driving doing stupid thing but on SR you could do that and then at least get back into the story because the maps where to big.

Saints Row by a long way. Better story, better environment, better missions, better graphics.
But I hated San Andreas, it was just so annoying and violent and 'rap' oriented for the sake of being so.

For me, Vice City is the best of them all.

I couldn't have put it better myself.

I just think Saints Row was wack and was cliched. To me it rode on stereotypes all the way through the game. It seemed like a white mans gangster game if that makes sense.

I guess people should watch; Menace II Society and Boyz in the Hood to enjoy San Andreas, if you havnt watched those movies and didnt like San Andreas i urge you to watch them then play the game again. I just liked all the characters in San Andreas, like Ryder for example who is blatantly Eazy E!

That puts it into words better than I can!!! (Although you would never hear me say shizzle like "wack" as I'm too old, and not a student :p).

What does this mean in street lingo: "yo homie where your dad at, im gonna pop a cap in his ass" ? (I am unsure if it is a serious question, it all depends if you gonna call the five-o on me :D )

Saints Row for me, it looks nice and is enjoyable to play, I think the soundtrack is great on it and also like the voice acting, I'd even say the storyline wasn't that bad either.
I don't mind if it's too cliched or whatnot, mainly because I'm not trying to become the character. I'm a white-boy non gangster who doesn't listen to rap, I play the game purely to further the story and to mess around.

I miss the motorbikes and planes of GTA but I don't think it ruins the game for me.
The online games on SR were quite enjoyable, remember to mute all the other players though...

In order of personal preference.

1: vice city
2: Saints row
3: gta 3
4: San andreas <--- didn't do it for me.

I love old school rap as well, artists like NWA, Eazy E, Dre, LL, GM Flash, Marley Marl, Slick Rick, Mobb Deep etc. I've also seen a few of the new school artists like Eminem, 50, Game, Trice and Dee Twizzy perform live, but does that meen I should like a game based around rap / hip hop culture - apparantly not.

Saints row on the other hand I found to be a blast, the only niggle was the occasional framerate drops which hopefully thq have eradicated in SR2.

Looking forward to GTA 4 in a big big way though!

I liked Saints Row, and I think it deserves more credit than it gets from a lot of gamers/reviewers.

That said the entire GTA style of games gets incredibly old stupendously quickly for me.

Ever since GTA3 it's just seemed same old, same old.

Shinier graphics, larger variety of vehicles and a bit more area to play around with.

It's fun, but GTA games never capture my attention for long periods of time unfortunately.

I loved them up until Vice City, I finished it and didn't get the sense of accomplishment you usually get with completing a game.

edit:
Thats not to say I didn't enjoy VC, I thought it was a great game... it was just after VC things went downhill
end edit:

I'm sure I'm not alone on this?
For me GTA games are stop-gap fillers, something to do when you want a change from your favourite games. Or a game to buy when nothing decent is coming out.

That all said, I'll probably get GTA4 on launch... play it for a good week or so, then it'll be same old, same old :o

is saints row worth picking up for 10/15 pounds 2nd hand from a competitor?

Its one of the most underated games on the system. The graphics, story and sound are great. But the next gen physics really make the game stand out from the GTA games from the last gen.

There are minor frame rate problems if you turn on v-sync,but i had already finished the game before the patch was even released, and the tearing didn't bother me at all.
