**** sake :(

I was the last in the line of traffic, that's why he pulled out. So I wouldn't of thought it was inconsiderate to not let him out just to save him half a second of further waiting. Also, if you take a moment to look at the map of the junction, if I had stopped, I may have been blocking the other side of the cross roads.

I guess, but only if recorded enough sound detail to make out my indicators being active, over the sound of my Girls Aloud megamix.

Your what?

Did you ask the body shop what they did?

If that was an insurance job coming into our place we'd have just fitted a new wing rather than faffing about with panel pulling and filler.

Just said that they'd pulled and repaired it as the damage was light enough that it would be easier than cutting in a new panel. I guess when you consider that pretty much the whole side of the car is what looks like one panel, it's the easier option. Either way, I am very happy with the repair. As I said, I cannot tell it's been done.

Your what?

:p

They should start to charge people a surcharge for deliberately prolonging a claim. What a muppet.

At the scene he gave me a business card with all his contact details. I was so angry when I heard he was disputing, I was really tempted to call him up and ask him wtf he was up to. Wouldn't of got me anywhere, but would have made me feel better :p

Fair enough :-)

I've seen replacement panels look worse than pulled and filled panels anyway :-)

I really don't understand what goes through people's minds, I guess in moronland it's impossible to get a moron to admit they're a moron.

These things need to be pushed along by the customer. It's wrong but unless you're on the phone to them regularly claims sometimes just sit in the doldrums :(

Glad you finally got it all sorted.

I've noticed a couple of times when I've turned right the car waiting will pull forward while I'm turning, realise there is a car in front of them and slam on the brakes. People seem to be doing this more often these days

Insurance companies are awful at keeping you in the loop with a claim. Mind you I'm involved with the police atm prosecuting someone and they're just as bad at saying they will call later in the week and then hear nothing for months.

This is a common problem now, any company you call up to complain, or ask for a call back and you never get it. All you get is empty promises and you feel sorry for the people in the call center. You only get a call back if you demand to speak to a supervisor or escalate it.

I'm so glad I've not had to go through this pain of making a claim YET, and I dread the day I do. I basically approach everything expecting the un-expected when driving, due to the amount of idiotic things people seem to do.

So what's the tips then, if it is definitely their fault or a 50/50, claim off of their insurance, but advise your insurance company? When you advise your insurance company do you tell them not to act, and that you are dealing with the others?

Just think how much inconvenience and stress could have been avoided by being a little more considerate and "Flashing" the RR driver out as you approached the junction! ;)

OP was on a major road, turning onto a minor, he doesn't and shouldn't give way to anyone apart from other vehicles on the major. Anyone on the minor should wait for vehicles on the major to complete their manoeuvre, be that driving past, turning into it etc.
'flashing' someone out is actually not a proper driving technique anyway, I'm sure we all do it but not on that sort of road unless heavy traffic.

Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users.

Never assume that flashing headlights is a signal inviting you to proceed. Use your own judgement and proceed carefully.

I have done mine through Honda Accident Management as my car is under warranty and this doesn't effect my insurance and excess. Ever heard of it or a similar service? I know you aren't a Honda driver but just curious.

I had that with my Mazda as well. I think it was called "Mazda Accident Aftercare Service" or something. They gave me a card to keep in my wallet when I bought the car. It was handled pretty well by them when some idiot went into the back of my car.
