When I signed up for a landline the customer service rep (BT) asked me if I wanted to subscribe to the TPS.

I must get 1 incoming call a week, and that's the mother-in-law.

*shudder*

Did BT charge you for that, I got an email from BT offering the service for a one off fee for a few quid which I thought was a scam.

I was already registered with the TPS which was free.

I added witheld number rejection to my line but the American holiday messages still get through. Stops all the other call centre ones though.

I just hang up without saying a word. If I do say anything its usually "GOODBYE!" they soon get a hint not to bother calling back. :o
Best thing (in my opinion) to stop this type of call is to have a phone line for internet & use your mobile for all your calls.
