It's that time of the year again, you can get that beautiful salty green vegetable. What are you going to do with it?

I'm thinking of a meal with Samphire, Asparagus and some lovely pink Trout all drizzled with some homemade Hollandaise & fresh black pepper.

Is it back already? I hadn't spotted it - looks like I'll be buying some scallops this week then.

That sounds lovely, what time do you want me round for?

What's Samphire?
This? Looks like a kind of asparagus type thing. I've never heard of it before.

It's a wild vegetable that grows on the coast, it's pretty specific to the South East - you can only get it for about 4 weeks a year around June and have only seen it available in London, Essex etc.

Very nice food.

Grows all around Wales as well, and the East coast in general. Anywhere where there is the right mud/sand ratio with a lot of water ;)

Theres a place where my dad lives near Dover called Samphire Hoe. The name says it all really :P It's a man made area of land they dumped all the dirt and sand from when they built the channel tunnel and apparently it's all over there
