Long-time lurker and looking for a new monitor and after days of research I decided these two mention are what I have narrowed it down to. Now my reason for posting is because I need some user feedback on these because I have pretty much read every review and forums I can think of a it seems there is so much mix PERSONAL experience with these monitors especially the Benq. I was tempted to buy the Benq but it appears to be suffering from major flickering issues which seems to be a lottery and the Samsung also appears to suffer from it but not as much.

I would mainly use if for working from home looking at logs/troubleshooting as I am a Network, VoIP and Video Conferencing Support Engineer so any flickering between windows is definitely a no no as I spend long hours going through logs/replicating issues/testing/building labs working at the CLI.

Also gaming but nothing competitive so I can live with a little input lag. I mostly play adventure/racing games. Fry Cry/Grid.
Also my Graphics Card is a is a GTX780
Thanks in Advance.

Was in the same dilemma but went for the Samsung in the end mostly due to it being on deal over the weekend!

Arrives tomorrow so I'll let you know how it is!

I think most of it boils down to personal opinion really with them both using the same panel although on paper the benQ has a few added features.

The main differences between the two monitors are the Samsung's use of PWM for the backlight and lack of pivot for portrait mode. I don't think there's any doubt the BenQ is the better monitor, but it's personal preference as to whether it is worth the extra cost.

I don't think there's any evidence that either brand suffers from flickering more than the other, it's a fault with the AUO panel and should affect both models in similar proportions.

The Samsung does pivot. It also has Vesa mounts.

I'm getting my Samsung tomorrow, I'll report back :)

Thanks for the response...i am getting trigger happy as i want it by tomorrow from overlockers so i can play with it over new years day :D...but i don't think i will use the extra features from the Benq and if i have to return the monitor i think i would prefer dealing with Samsung

I think based of the forum post on hardforum i am tempted to say the Benq has more issues a bad batch was made and is still out there with retailers. Also other uk review retailers sites customers have changed up 3 Benq and still the same issue.

Gah, I was getting mixed up with the Acer 32". That'll teach me to post at 3AM :p

I'm not sure the H thread is indicative since the BenQ was the first monitor using that panel to hit the market, by several months, and only the very first batch (March 2014 mfg date) seem to be completely free of faulty units.

Just pulled the trigger on the Sammy ..so hopefully I will get it by tomorrow. And have a new toy for new years day to play with.

Posting on this now and wow it is huge! Loving the 1440 resolution.

Just tried out a quick bit of BF4 and while i'm aware this isn't a gaming monitor I'm still undecided on weather I will be able to get used to this, Started to get a bit of motion sickness after 10 mins of play!

I'll have a tweak with some settings and see how I get on

Yeah, it took some getting use to the motion on the sammy 32.

Oddly, I find the 40 inch Philips much better somehow. I was expecting it to be worse.

But do you now find it usable? And have you made any adjustments to make it easier to view?

Not sure if it's just a case of my eyes needing time to adjust or if there are settings that can be tweaked.

Oh, mine is boxed up ready to send back (should have gone back weeks ago but dpd have been utterly bloody useless) because of the flicker issue.

Then got the Philips instead.

Got my 32" today. First off, the build quality is excellent. The stand does feel a bit flimsy but I suspect that comes with the territory of owning a 32" monitor, and I prefer a flimsy stand which flexes a bit to one that is solid as a rock and every time you try and move it, it overshoots.

The packaging was excellent as to be expected, comes with all the cables you would expect, and a DVD with the software on it. Installing it means taking it out the box, removing the plastic and packaging, twisting the arm so that it's in the right position and placing it where you want it. There are no screws or clips involved, it's literally a 15 second process.

After that simply plug everything in and you're good to go. This is sadly as far as I got as I'm on nights but I'll post back once I've had a bit more time with it.

My first impression however is obviously how huge it is. It's really, really massive. I was tempted to send it back and go for the 27", but taking a step back and seeing it in all it's glory quickly put an end to that.

When I first connected it, I was using the DVI cable from my previous (Asus 24") monitor, which made the image blurry, jagged and awful to look at. Replacing the cable with the Displayport cable quickly put an end to that, and I must say that I absolutely love it so far.

I haven't watched any vids, played any games, literally what you see in this photo is what I saw before having to leave.

Loving it so far, but it's early doors, so let's see how it goes :)

Don't worry you get used to the size eventually! I've now had mine coming up a week and I just love it.

No flickering, no issues, just a really quality image.

I have ordered one of the Samsung's, should be waiting for me when I get home from work later. I also considered the 27" really just thinking that 32" might be going a bit far ...but I really want something to give me the 'wow' factor, so I opted for the 32" ...also the dot pitch of the 32" will be roughly the same as the 24" I use now, which is fine but I wouldn't care to go too much smaller for text reading purposes.

The flickering is a known issue with these panels, seems to be a bit hit and miss, take your chance and see what happens is all you can do really. Hopefully mine doesn't do it, if it does, it'll have to go back.

OK So just called CS mind has been delayed and i wont get it now until Saturday. Was looking forward to getting it today. Disappointed.

The one I received yesterday seems to be a perfect panel from what I can tell.

No flickering, no dead pixels, and good colours!

It's just still the gaming side that lets this down for me so far :( I'm going to give it a few more days as I'm hoping it's just a case of getting used to it.

But then again there really are no 1440 gaming monitors out there right now besides the ROG Swift so maybe this will just have to fill the gap for a few months.
