Samsung 32D850D 32 and BenQ BL3200PT 32

Input lag is more noticeable than my old 22" 60hz LG which has put my aim off slightly and possibly the drop in FPS coming from 1080p has made the experience slightly less smooth.

Although I am still getting between 50 and 80 frames in BF4 in ultra.

Also the size! It's much bigger than I expected and I'm probably sat a bit too close to it really, but my eyes seem to have got used to it now.

I think the problem here is my expectations were slightly higher than they should have been, I was expecting to set it up and jump in game and still be as good as I was straight away.

I don't want to come across to negative about this monitor because it's a stunning piece of kit and it looks amazing!

I guess if you play FPS just allow yourself some time to adjust!

I've had the Samsung 32" since Sunday and I'm loving it. No issues with flickering, no dead pixels, just a fantastic massive monitor!!

I'm not sure why NvidiaDan is not happy with gaming on it? For me it's just so much more immersive than my previous 27". In this case bigger is most definitely better...

Well I have been using it for about 40 minutes now, no issues to speak of so far, no flickering, no dead pixels, there is a minor amount of back-light bleed in the lower right corner, nothing major though and you can only really see it when you set an all black background on the display.

First observation is an obvious one really, it's massive! ...the stand is reassuringly heavy, build quality seems decent, not amazing, not as good as the Dell 2412 I have next to it but decent, certainly better than most displays that aren't of a 'professional' calibre you can buy.

The only picture adjustments I have made so far are too turn the brightness down as it comes out of the box at 100, I am using 70 right now, if you look a lot of white backgrounds, you would probably want to go lower though. I have also switched to the custom colour profile and notched the green balance up by 2, it's R50 G50 B50 out of the box but superficial observations for a short time say it was a touch low in the greens out of the box ...having said that my old monitor probably over does greens a bit so it may just be my perception right now.

I haven't really tried gaming on it yet, that comes next. I did let it play through the Valley Benchmark (has a lot of green in it) it seemed fine. I do perceive a subtle increase in input lag just in Windows though, but ...I was using a 144Hz AOC gaming monitor before, so I fully expected this. More interesting will be how it compares to the Dell 2412 next to it, clearly it blows the AOC into the great beyond for image fidelity ...but will lose every time for response times, input lag and motion blur ...question is, is it good enough in these areas. That will take some gaming to answer. One other initial observation, the contrast ratio is great.

For reference I am driving it with a Radeon R9 285.

...bear in mind that is a Dell 2412M on a VESA arm next to it, so not a small monitor.

Hi,

My Samsung 27D850D arrived today from overclockers and the monitor was very well packaged so thank you for that. :)

The Screen is absolutely stunning and very sturdy as some said the 32ich is a little flimsy but that could be just the size of the 32 inch.

Setting up the screen is easy from taking it out of the box to turning it on takes no more than 4mins at most, comes with all cables needed.

The stand is very heavy and no need to worry that if you knock the screen by any chance it will fall over because it wont.

Gaming is stunning on the monitor you can really see a difference from 1080p to 1440p. Would really recommend this monitor to anybody thinking of getting one.

I received the 27" version of this. Screen is immaculate in terms of the panel gaming on it is great, loving the screen size etc however, after keeping the plastic covering on it for the last few days....

I removed it and I discovered this:

:(

My question to you would be would it be worth getting this returned, or would you live with it, as it is purely cosmetic, but now that I have seen it, I can't not see it.

I don't know what could have done this, do you think it's worth returning for a model without this defect and risk a potential dead pixel?

I'm using a Dell 2412 myself at present, so am very interested to hear how the gaming comparison goes...

I am still undecided on this monitor for gaming, the picture is great but I can certainly tell the difference between gaming on this and the AOC 144Hz monitor I was using. The Dell also has a better response rate and lower input lag.

It depends what game I am playing but I am constantly aware of it and I'm not sure I like it, I am giving it a while to try and get used to. Playing Warthunder, in a dogfight trying to track an enemy aircraft rapidly it feels a lot like I am using a wireless mouse, when I am not ...but that's the sort of lag I am talking about, gives me a rather disconnected feeling and I can see my cross hair blurring slightly which makes me feel a little sick.

Of more concern to me though is how tired my eyes seem to be getting looking at this, I really don't know why, maybe it's because it's so big ...I have the brightness down to 40 now and my eyes get tired and sore quickly using this display, this does not happen with either my AOC, Dell or another 1080P IPS AOC I have or the old and rather rubbish 19" 900P display I use at work.

I will sleep on it, switch out again tomorrow and see how my eyes feel.

Really though, I think this display is too slow for me and the input lag too high. It works well for Warthunder tanks as the pace is much lower, but with aircraft ...not great.

Got mind today came while i was at work. Will post some pics when i get a chance but its an huge didnt think it would be this big can see myself getting another one in the future.

Battlefield at the moment m8, everything on ultra and getting about 60fps some times drops under but nothing major might get down to about 54fps

Cheers

Thanks. Interesting how subjective this is... although I must admit I thought the Dell's stats re response rate were comparable. Might just have to take the plunge and see how I get on...

I think trying it yourself is the only way to know really, it isn't so much what I can see that bothers me it's how it 'feels' so more input lag than anything.

I have now tried using all 3 monitors for playing the same games for several hours each, the AOC gives the best 'feel' the Dell isn't all that far off really and the Samsung trails noticeably. The Dell actually is the best all-round for all things, the AOC is the best at just gaming and the Samsung is best at everything else. I guess this is no surprise really though. I have had the Dell for years but I have never compared it to anything like the Samsung, only to monitors cheaper than it's self and obviously inferior in image quality ...I now realise just how good it actually is. The thing I notice on that though is the heavy AR coating that gives whites that slightly grey grainy look, the Samsung doesn't do that at all which is nice as the surface is 'semi-glossy'.

My eyes feel better after not using the Samsung today though it has to be said and that is more important than anything else. I will switch them around again in a bit and use the Samsung for the evening though. I was suffering a lack of sleep over the last few days anyway, today I am well rested so I better give it another fair go.

So got in setup but absolutely lovely monitor its so big. Anyone who says size doesnt matter thats a like LOL

Back to the monitor...

Firstly the box it comes in is HUGE and I mean HUGE. I wonder why it was so big but its only when I opened it up I realise why it’s so big. The monitor itself is a joy to behold.
Samsung packed it like a tank so even the most careless delivery man won’t damage it.

Once I connected all the cables and powered up my pc man was I excited this monitor is enormous. Everything looks so much better coming from a 23" LG which has served me well for 4 years and I will still keep it. First thing i did was check the flickinering ..now i dont get any flickering in any of the obvious apps origin is fine, so is google earth but i do get it on this test http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPixel/GreenMagenta.html
Now its not very bad but i am now considering weather i should send it back overclockers?

In terms of build quality I am very happy sturdy stand and nice bezel. The height adjustment can be a bit stiff had to give it a little nudge to move it. The cable management slot at the back of the stand which is a good addition hides cables well.
No sure about the USB slots position at the back.

Overall very happy but just for the minor flickering on http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPixel/GreenMagenta.html.

Ok So I think have cracked the eye strain issue, the monitor was already as far back as I could get it on the desk ...however, there is the windowsill, I don't use this Window anyway really, there is another one 3 feet to the left of it which is the one I tend to use as this has been blocked by my desk for years.

This makes all the difference to my eyes, as I am no-longer too close to this endless wall of light.

The experience is quite different now though, I am not used to sitting this far away from a monitor, I'm not sure if I prefer to sit closer to a smaller monitor or further from a very large one just now.

I suppose the 27" would have been a wiser choice. Need more photos of photos of photos ....of photos, give eyetrip a braintrip :p

Great Steup have done any flicker testing as yet?

Yes, there isn't any flickering, or dead pixels. There is a minor amount of back-light bleed in the bottom right corner of the monitor, but you can only notice that on a pure black background, basically I opened paint, filled it black and made it full screen and you can see it a bit ...that's it, perfect otherwise.

OK that good i havent got any dead pixels also and a little back-light bleed in the bottom right corner also...i only get flicker on this test page http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPix...enMagenta.html

Not sure whether is worth sending it back for that as its prefect otherwise
