Samsung 32D850D 32 and BenQ BL3200PT 32

OK that good i havent got any dead pixels also and a little back-light bleed in the bottom right corner also...i only get flicker on this test page http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPix...enMagenta.html

Not sure whether is worth sending it back for that as its prefect otherwise

What games have you tried? I noticed on my monitor that lighter environments caused major flickering - in elder scrolls online outdoors causes frequent flickering, whereas caves and dungeons are flicker free. I think Skyrim is a good tester for flickering too. If you get none in outdoor environments then the monitor is likely fine.
Mine gets returned Thursday but the flickering is very bad on my monitor

Mine is going back too, not for flickering but because it's still killing my eyes even moved back to the windowsill. I'm not sure why, I have never been affected like this by a monitor since the last timer I used a CRT with a 60Hz refresh rate, so a long time. Moving it back helped a lot, but it's still causing a lot of eye fatigue and eventually headaches, not a problem I generally suffer, even with a PWM backlight, which both my current monitors use.

I have only tried Far Cry 3 so far and i didn't experience any issues but i will be testing a few others just to make sure. I Will also test assassin creed black flag and Batman Arkham City.

I will test it for a full week to see if I get any headaches so far its ok. Is it teh size or the screen that is causing the issues for you?

What do you plan on replacing it with?

Odd, I played a few hours even with the flickering and suffered no fatigue. I sit way. To close to it too. I did turn down its brightness a lot though, as the 100% was a bit much.

Think I'm in a similar situation to you Moeks. What are you planning on replacing it with?

Thinking of a 27" 1440 but not sure of the most responsive one there is so far

I don't really know why it's had this effect to be honest, I think it is the size really. The 27" BenQ 1440p flicker free model is what I am most leaning towards now. Acer do a very well specced model, flicker free too, could be worth consideration.

Now it's all boxed up and I have been using my 24" Aoc and Dell at home and a vitage 6 year old 19" HansG piece of crud at work ...no eye strain issues at all, they feel fine and no sign of a headache.

I spent about two hours playing Destiny (PS4) on my 32" again last night, for the first time I've had a decent session in about a fortnight.

Absolutely love this screen still. I don't know if I've just got tough eyes, low standards, am easily impressed or what, but I find this monitor lovely. The size does take a bit of getting used to, but I'm getting there, and by jove is it lovely :)

I've decided to keep this now. I love everything about it apart from the responsiveness!

So to hopefully solve this issue I currently have a cheap 144hz panel on it's way right now! :p

Not the ideal situation I know but I'm hoping it will keep me satisfied until 1440p 144hz IPS monitors become widely available and affordable!

Anyone found the ideal settings for the Samsung? Out of the box it seems pretty good but felt it needs some tuning (mainly noticed on grey background like some parts of bit-tech forum)

Received my Samsung today, no dead pixels and not noticed any flickering as of yet. I have noticed some banding on grey background (twitch.tv when stream loading). Minimal backlight bleed, barely noticeable.

Not touched a single setting yet so hopefully it will look even better once I've tweaked it a bit, looks a little washed out of default settings imo.

Very happy with it so far though and it's HUGE after using a 24" for so long :D

Lol, yeah, mine was 22 inch before. Let me know if you find decent settings (mine is currently returned and hopefully will be replaced due to flickering)

Hmm, so according to the technicians there is no flickering present on the monitor I returned. Guess it just be me and my friends imagining it....
Unless it is magically working when it gets back I am stuck with a £400 monitor which is unusable in the games I play.

No you are not, if you are within 2 weeks of the purchase you can return it for any reason at all under the updated distance selling regulations. It does not matter if the vendor doesn't think there is a problem or the retailer, if you do, within that period you can return it. After that, you are at the mercy of their RMA system and what their testers find.

Oh dear, did they say to you how they tested it and what with ? ...it might be useful to compare to see why you see the issue and they say they do not.

Well there is always a chance my card was causing the issue. I will know when I get it back as I now have a gtx 970. If the issue is still there I will record it and send it to them and ask them to explain exactly how they found no flickering if I can find it within 5 minutes of playing a game

Managed to play with any settings Xinn? The monitor is a bit washed out, particularly the grey.
On another note, I got the monitor back. Lo and behold, it still flickers, exactly as it does for others, exactly as has been discussed elsewhere. Basically the issues talked about regarding the BenQ panel is the same for Samsung (same panels). Even down to the detail that running games at 1920 x 1080 does not cause the flickering issue. So there is plenty of evidence around, it is well documented yet the techs seem to think the monitor is fine. I will see what they say in response to my latest mail, but so far things do not look good for me.
If anyone is on the fence about these monitors and take the risk, make sure you test it out immediately so that you can send it back within 14 days should you get the flickering issue, otherwise you may have £400 of junk on your desk like me :(
