im not clued up at all on ssd's, was wondering what the "apple series" means in the title for the sammy 256gb? its not restricted in anyway towards non apple machines is it? is the apple part even referring to apple machines lol?, im sure its not but i thought i would double check.

It basically means it doesn't come with a caddy. The performance is identical to the desktop part

its the exact same SSD you get in the desktop version.

instead of coming with a little metal plate to mount it in a hdd drive bay like this

you get a USB> sata cable so you can clone a laptops drive onto the ssd

most people just stick SSD's onto the back of the motherboard tray anyway

cheers mate, i was worried especially with "desktop" in the title of the other sammy. yeah mine will be getting stuck onto the mobo tray most likely.
 
It does say "- SSD 2.5"-3.5" tray" in the specs for both drives though on the advert, so I had assumed that the kit being put together included an adaptor, even though the 256GB drive was a laptop package.
