i only went off your sig,the reg hack only works for certain boards(thats why i suggested format/reinstall) but maybe cos you already set to raid/ahci it worked when you just set to ahci,you dont need the raid though,and yes those look right for sata2,maybe test with atto benchmark
 
Should have mentioned I was on my bro's PC so it is a Gigabyte P35 DS3R mobo. Added ATTO and CrystalDiskMark benchies to the post above now too. All looks good I think :)

EDIT: following install of all games + programs performance is even improved slightly.
