Samsung 840 EVO ready to pre-order at OcUK!!

I ordered a 120 and a 250 yesterday.

Looks like there's been a reasonable price drop on launch day. I would expect to pay the launch price in this instance. DSR might have to be employed, unless I get refunded the difference.

I sometimes wonder how pricing on PC components works. I know that component prices are often voltaile, and I assume margins are often quite thin.

In this case, did OcUK only find out today that these SSDs were cheaper than they expected, and therefore reduced the price. Did these SSD only arrive in their warehouse today, with a smaller invoice than they were expecting ? (I doubt it). Or did they know a while back that the price would be ~£134 on launch day, but decided to try to get about £14 more out of those who pre-ordered ?

I think you're forgetting they got in stock at like 10am were still at £149 until 4pm so it wasnt a case of a Pre Order Vs In Stock price, a lot of people ordered today between 10am and 4pm and paid full whack, myself included

Mind you, I suppose I shouldn't complain too much.

I picked up an 840 250GB for £109.99 in a 1 hour special deal on Jan 1st this year. The average price was around £150 at the time. I haven't seen a lower price since, so I suppose it was a genuine bargain !

Looks like we'll have to wait until tomorrow to get an answer - I'm a bit surprised we've not had any communication about this, as the OcUK team generally seem pretty on the ball with regards to stuff like this.

Hello Guys, instead of using the webnote for forum users, please drop 5UB a message in CS where he will be able to look in to your order for you.
Error on the website put in a margin 1/10th of what it should have been :(.. I blame Gibbo :p

Hi there

Guys I hold my hands up, this was completely my fault, I was placing a new order and for the dumbest reason ever I put our re-purchase price onto our website.

A mistake and completely my error. The price was corrected the moment I got here this morning. Its easily evident to see it was a clear mistake from the pricing our competitors are at which is £150-£170.

I don't think so iMacMart, we paid £149.99 which is I think one of the cheapest you'll find, but from what Gibbo is saying it looks like the next batch/order that comes in, may potentially be £134.99 - whether that's next week, next month, or 6 months down the line, who knows.

I don't think anyone else managed to secure and despatch any stock yesterday other than OCUK, so thumbs up!

It's a shame my DPD package appears to be still at the depot and not out on the van, so whether I get it today or not is another matter. Getting a bit fed up of DPD now, they've messed about on my last 3 orders

What Gibbo is saying is that he ordered the next batch from Sansung at a wholesale price of approx. £134 but then accidentally put that price into the OcUK website without adding their margin on :o

I'm pretty sure the next batch which come in will not be sold at cost price, so I wouldn't hold off ordering on that expectation.
