January security update now available. Since installing it, I've noticed a weird notification popping up occasionally with a magic wand icon. Anyone know what this is for??

2.6gb update downloaded overnight.

That would be a nice surprise, it's not supposed to get an update till May.

Now installing it, needed to charge my phone. A71 seems to be doing quite well for the updates.

Although I am looking at the A72 now. 90hz screen and water and dust resistance...

And bigger battery and better camera! Samsung will give you £150 trade-in for your A70 up until the end of this month too so I am tempted to upgrade. I think Android 11 will be the last big update this phone gets as they've only committed to 2 updates.

The A70 finishes at Android 11 I think, and less frequent updates now

Yep my mum phone A71 updated to OneUI 4.1 and Android 12. Except my dad A70 remain on Android 11. I got new Samsung A53 5G to trade in my old Galaxy Note 4 for £150 off for new A53 5G via Samsung online.

Not available over here yet and no known date so far.

Shame, could have been my next phone. But no 3.5mm kills that. At least it's still got a MicroSD.

Well, I think I've found an interesting bug with Android12 on the A71.

Using bluetooth audio, volume adjusts fine using the volume buttons on the side.
3.5mm audio - nope. Using the volume buttons changes the ringer volume, but volume changes when you go deeper into the volume control and adjust the slider.
Hmmm.
