Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Does anyone else have a problem turning on 3G with the galaxy s?

My 3G is normally off, partly to save battery and partly because I use wireless a lot.

I use the switchpro widget to control 3G and sometimes I'll try to turn on 3G and nothing will happen but if I reboot it will work

This happened to me in the centre of Reading the other day and I was in the same location with full signal.

Also just tried this at home and the 3G icon would only come up once I rebooted the phone. However, once I rebooted I could turn 3G on/off fine and it also worked after I had turn on/off wifi as well.

It almost seems as if over time it stops working. Any ideas? Hope I'm not just being stupid :D

Right, got meself a Galaxy S :)
Where to start? I've upgraded from a hero which was 2.2. Is it ready for this phone yet? Cant find it anywhere but blogs saying there is one :(

it was released/leaked for a day on kies but its available on XDA forums along with a root for it, following advice im now running on JPC (Froyo 2.2) rooted and im loving the phone.

i flashed with odin but that comes with the downloads on xda

I use APNdroid and have no problems with switching on.

im getting some kind of the same thing with switch pro.
3g hates the Wifi being on or vice versa

and i cant turn off wifi either at some stages without turning off/on the phone

atm the battery & software (os) is the phones flaw half tempted to sell it as its doing my head in charging the phone every day.

i charged my phone over night on wednesday (though the error message saying its charged i left it anyway) 8am i got up and unpluged it i used my phone to send around 7txt and phone work. By the end of the day 10pm it died.

Useless battery life

Just looking around to root my phone and found several different methods. Which one to use? i dont want to spoil my nice new phone :) It has recovery boot mode.
Any specific links? I found this one here, any good?

Look on the market for RyanZa one click lag fix, or get it from his post on the XDA forums...

As for wifi failing to turn off, I had this until I turned OFF the option to use Wireless for network location, no problems since, the option was chanegd from JF1 to JM1, not had any trouble with JM1.

Don't get a smartphone if you're not prepared to charge the phone everyday, the SGS is regarded as having pretty decent battery life for a smartphone.

Ok. I just got this phone but when I'm browsing the net incoming calls are going straight to the answerphone and not ringing.
Do any of you get this problem? :/

Already own it :P but charge every day even when NOT using it seems silly

13.5hours battery life for heavy use

Had mine for just over a week.

Normal use (5-10 txts, 30-60mins of calls, few games, bit of browsing)

Get 2 days out of it.

Was actually very surprised, much longer than both my G1 and N95.

Been in a good 3G area though so it's not constantly trying to connect.

The battery gets better with time, my first week I got upto 16 hours, now I get two to three days, with 3G on, Auto sync, Facebook sync every hour, Email via K9 sync every 2 hours, and Movie Finder on auto sync, play a few minutes of games and 30 mins wifi a day minimum with one short call and 2-3 txt msgs a day :)

If my battery has more than 50% when I go to bed, I just turn of auto sync and put the phone into Airplane mode till I get up next morning, and the battery will last till I go back to bed again... Thats getting up @ 07:00 and back to bed @23:30

i must have a dodgy phone or battery then

black background
auto sync - off
display - low / 15 sec turn off
vibrate - off
wifi- on only at home when using apps / 3g - off / gps - off / bluetooth - off
system sound is off
Notification bar - off
animations are off
account sync - off

i must be doing something wrong then :P

Wifi rapes the battery it's probably the second biggest power draw after the screen. Mines been on for almost 48 hours with only light use and still has 37% of the battery left.

I also have the issue with the wifi sometimes getting 'stuck' turning itself off which requires a reboot.

I'm hoping vodafone will allow me to update the firmware via Kies soon, either that or unlock the phone. Is this easy to do does anyone know?

I have a problem, at night I put the phone on vibrate. In the morning when I turn vibrate off, I check the ringer volume and its set to 0.

Also the screen keeps turning the brightness up.

aarrgghhhh

My battery life is pretty poor when I use 3G but when I switch it to EDGE it's better. I don't even really use mobile web that much, but still it's poor.
