Recalibrate your battery.

1. Let your phone drain til no power.
2. Plug into charger till it reaches 100% (with phone turn off)
3. Go into recovery and wipe battery stats (with charger still in)
4. Let it reboot and wait 5 minutes (take charger out of phone)
5. repeat steps 1,2

Should be okay after 3 cycles.

Help

My SGS has decided not to talk to Kies.
I've uninstalled Kies + drivers + deleted an entry in InstallShield Installation Information and then re-installed but nothing.
After 2 attempts I decided to install Kies on an XP machine and my SGS won't talk to that.
When connecting the phone it makes a ding sound and says that USB is connected.

Could I have switched something off on the phone?

Is it debugging mode or check to see if its set for kies in the usb settings.

Welcome to kies mine has never worked even after doing all the fixes on the web. Custom roms are aload better anyway

I tried in debugging and KIES actually gave me an error.
I can't find the USB settings!!!

Usb setting should be fine mate,if it worked ok before. Sure the Usb setting is in manage applications

Well a 3rd party one based on an original one from samsung miles better and it's really not rocket science to flash them just take your time and spend maybe an hour to read up about it

That's a bit naff, sorry for the link. I assumed each version of Kies supported all the phones. So 1.5.3.1013 remains the one to use.

After hard resetting my SGS and making contact with KIES I re-installed software and go tthe same problem.
Turns out that ADW Launcher buggers it up.

Another problem -
KIES now won't let me upgrade.

Model name: GT-I9000
Current Version : PDA:JM1 / Phone:JM1
This devices version cannot be updated

Depends what operator software you have on. Is it orange ,tmobile etc branded? T mobile sent me a link to update from their website for example.

Any reason why your against flashing custom ROMs?

My friend was the same he didnt want to put a custom rom on his phone but last night he messed up a kies update and after that I put darky 8.0 on his phone and he couldnt believe the difference and was left spechless

After seeing and comparing 2 people in my office who have upgraded I can't see the point however I wouldn't mind updating to Froyo.
Also if my phone was to brick and I sent it back surely I had gone against the guarantee?
