Samsung Galaxy S24 Family Thread

Ok so Samsung support says once the order is placed then that's it, can't update trade-in details. So what I will do is just not send my S23 Ultra in and sell it to phone recycling for £695 instead.

This now means that after TCB, selling the watch and the recycling sale of the 23 Ultra, the 24 Ultra 512 has cost just £318

Is there an easy way to set up the new phone.. I hate new phone day because of having to set up all my email addresses again. I have a lot. Surely i can just copy everything over via a cable by now

Samsung app called Smart Switch. it does everything wirelessly (or cable) - I used it both times before over wireless and it worked fine.

Edit*
Additional £1.70 cashback as I used TCB on the recycling site too

This is the best way to buy a new flagship for sure without locking into a phone contract.

Edit2* Correction on the earlier total cost estimate, it's £318 as the recycling cost price was for a new sealed S23U, the used price is £620 for it, not £695. Still not bad at all really.

OK, thanks for Rodders £50 code. Pawned in my S22Ultra.

£640 with perksatwork & trade in. Then probably sell the watch to make it around £440, which I can stomach.

I'm probably with you there, sell the watch to offset the overall cost. Not sure how gimmicky smartwatches are, never had one before. Could also be worth a try I suppose

Another item to charge every day or two, unless you use it for fitness tracking, then it's just extra bulk to carry and charge and then update or replace after a year or so because it's outdated much quicker than a phone is generally!

If anyone wants my £50 off code and it can be used by others, I am not going to get this phone. PM me and ill send it over, first come......

Edit - sent already

And posted a few posts above yours, if any OcUKer would help out another long-standing member with a spare code :(

Just incase anyone else is ordering from Amazon, the 24+ 256GB and 512GB are the same price (pre-order discount) I didn't realise this until afterwards, so cancelled the pre-order for the 256GB version and re-ordered the 512GB version

Tech Spurt compared the anti glare glass vs 23 Ultra, looks like it does exactly what it's meant to do, nice Ultra-only feature for sure.

£1200+ and you don't even get a ******* charger in the box? Not to mention the lack of expandable storage and a headphone jack. Suppose you could plug a USB stick in, but then how do you use a headphone adaptor? Companies really are starting to take the ****.

I think the lack of an audio jack these days is more about the form factor, the phone can be slimmer without it etc, but I agree it's annoying.

Since I made the switch to wireless earbuds I've never really felt the need to have a 3.5mm jack though I have to say

Not having a charger in the box is ridiculous though

Honestly, how many people use a 3.5 mm jack these days! I can’t remember the last time I used one or needed one. It’s time to get with the times, wireless audio has been out for a million years.

Storage is annoying but again, something that has been parked in the corner for a long time.

What year is it!

Chargers have not been a thing in the box for years with many brands now, inc Apple. Plus, it's a USB charging standard, any charger from any phone will charge it, so I can see why makers don't include chargers, there's already too many kicking about in every household, no need to add to the extra plastic waste in manufacturing the extra wedges.

Headphone jacks have equally been missing for ages, yeah be nice to have them but with the rise in Buds TWS and Airpods etc, it's not a feature the masses care about any more and only seemingly relegated to the niche.

These are unimportant things now on a modern flagship smartphone. Apple won't have any ports at all in a generation or two, and Samsung won't be far behind. Everything will be wireless.
