Samsung Galaxy S24 Family Thread

Got DPD email saying we're expecting your parcel, yesterday morning

It's out for delivery today 16:14 to 17:14

Samsung still saying 'preparing for dispatch' and no emails from them apart from order confirmation... Doh!

The antiglare screen is no joke

Just a quick question. I'm going to setup my s24 from scratch rather than do a smart switch restore. But is there any way I can automatically download / install all the apps I currently have rather than me manually going through the play store and installing them? I don't want to restore the app data, just the app itself.

If I do a Google one backup and then only select the option to restore apps is this what it does?

Whether you use Smartswitch or not Google does a backup anyway of settings, calls, SMS etc and will restore that (you get the option) on first boot and sign-in. All your installed apps are in the play store anyway and you can let those auto pulldown through the store, you'll get the option to do this too on initial sign-in and sync.

Smart Switch is the best way though, then just let Google do whatever it needs after. Some apps need to be manually restored like WhatsApp though, so do a Drive backup and restore.

Looking forward to you camera comparison between the two @mrk ;)
I may not have enough time to compare side by side as have to send this 23u off to recycle or risk losing the locked in price! But I have plenty of prevous samples anyway to replicate I guess. Alrthough as we've already seen there's not a huge difference between the two (yet) so will await updates of course. There's supposed to have been an update yesterday so will check shortly if it's pending or something too.

Can anybody recommend a charger for the S24 Ultra?
Go for a PPS 2.0 charger from rainforest... will support 45W charging. Go for a 90/100W if you ever see yourself charging a laptop /tablet / another phone and the phone together. Good ones I have are Technet, TOPK, or I got an Aukey 90W Omnia as well which is OK

The Anker 45W PPS2 one many of us bought last year works great.

Typical as is the case, EE's app was working yesterday as I needed to create an eSIM QR code, this morning it's not working, apparently the app is being fixed by them

I have to wait 24 hours!

Jack has just delivered mine along with the case, screen protectors watch and strap!! Lovely, Smartswitch currently doing the transfer from my iPhone.

What's weird is I do have a 140w charger and my phone is currently plugged into it and showing super fast charging 2.0 but it doesn't got above 16w. I'm not sure if this is because it's the devices first charge or something? Or that the charger isn't working correctly.

Completely forgot about eSIMs, I have one on O2. Hopefully it's not a PITA
