Samsung Galaxy S24 Family Thread

The S24 can do this (as a beta feature)
Agreed, was really thinking about that or the OnePlus Open, one things that put me off on the 12 was the curved display, also cameras can be a bit hit and miss (not perfect here either) and also software but looks like a very very good phone and a lot of bang for your buck

All set up now and running well... Unfortunately the one corporate app I need for Auth (okta) is not working

Phone is very quick and basically an enhanced s23 ultra (That's not a bad thing ) time to let it bed in for a week or so.

Haven't seen this day 1 update they were talking up to improve camera , seems okay at the moment but still not as good as my 8 pro
May I ask, if camera is not as good as pixel 8 pro, what makes you prefer the s24u? I always wanted to try the pixel phone but kind of 'stucked' in a samsung galaxy ecosystem at the moment , but always wonder if it's greener on the other side. the fact that samsung x google collab rather than fight each other, makes me still comfortable with samsung phones+watch etc for now.

Can no one compete with Apple when it comes to face id, find it bad on this s24 ultra.
iPhone will always be better because they have a bunch of extra sensors for it, hence the large cutout at the top of the screen. I've personally always preferred finger prints anyway so I'm fine with that

the samsung provided free screen protector are rubbish. Just wasted both , bubbles galore

watched this video too, did not help

will have to go without a screen protector

why could samsung not just include one attached like they did on S21+

What are the options ? take it to a samsung store ?

Meh, was let down by DPD. Had an original time of 1418-1518, when they blew past that I had an email to say it was delayed, but don't worry it'll be before 1648, then they just went radio silent when they missed that.

The guy really must have had a hard day. I'm sure it'll be here tomorrow.

And so begins my entire evening of setting back up biometrics, checking every single app, setting all my custom notification tones back in apps that don't backup those settings to the cloud (most do), setting the mobile petrol payment apps back up....

Funnily enough though the main apps like Microsoft Authenticator all pulled down and restored my 2FA codes perfectly as part of the initial backup and restore via Smart Switch, not seen that before last year as had to manually restore via the MSA app from the MS cloud.

what's the alternative? a glass screen? or just leave it unprotected. Samsung must have know the anti-reflective protectors are rubbish so gave 2 for free :)

Pixel has the best camera in the business(most of the time but not by much) , s23u/s24u are also very good with the main issues being shutter lag (appears to have improved a lot on the 24 ) and then colour accuracy.

Will do some testing over the next few days

The S23u/24u are better phones though , once again not much in it tbh but just some little things .

When I was setting this up it made me realise we really have reached the limit or close to for the current phone designs . Processors are really fast, enough memory and storage . Cameras are all very good generally.

The excitement of getting a new phone has worn off on me, this is more due to the above and the fact I tend to buy the latest and greatest Samsung then swap it out for the Pixel .

For people being sensible and not changing their phone once a year this is an incredible jump for them

At this stage both brilliant phones and really down to preference and cost
