Samsung Galaxy S24 Family Thread

It's the reason I've decided not to get the S24 Ultra I've been extremely tempted had it in the basket with just one click away from buying it, but I sold my S23 Ultra because of shutter lag along with the over saturation & over sharping.
The Pixel 8 Pro camera has been superb & this one reason alone makes it hard to give up.

This will be the first time I've not had the latest Sammy Ultra & will now wait for the Pixel 9 Pro later on in the year.
I've managed to speed up the shutter speed even further in the camera settings.

Have changed the settings under "intelligent optimisation" to minimise optimisation and take shot as fast as possible.

Let's see if this improves it

Got the envirofone confirmation for the watch6 payment, so thanks for sharing this .
On another note, my other watch6 hasn't arrived although the s24+ has few days ago. Hopefully it'll turn up soon!

have you noticed any loss in the picture quality after setting to minimise optimisation?

Are you guys trying to take pics of F1 cars or something?

The shutter speed has improved drastically on S24 Ultra and is pretty much on par with 15 Pro Max and Google Pixel 8 Pro

my cat identifies as a mclaren lol. but not even basic pictures of the cat say sitting around and moving her head is blurry.. :/ the "click" is fast but the actual shot is blurry..

For those of you that have gone from the s23u to the S24u, how are you finding the photos so far?
I'm really struggling most of the time, to the point where the s23u actually looks better to me.

Sadly not, just children walking or moving no rapid movements sadly . Was quite disappointed given the shutter speed appears generally faster then the s23 ultra

I have the Pixel 8 pro and it's definitely more consistent.

Let's see what the minimum intelligent optimisation and increase shutter speed does, cannot see a loss of detail.

Not blown away tbh but let's see what some software updates bring. Colour accuracy has improved but the 10x digital isn't as good as the 10x optical in the real world . I took some.amazing picture with the s23 ultra using the optical zoom

For me the low point on an otherwise brilliant phone.

Pixel 8 pro definitely better for photos but not video but this is the better overall package just IMO

Shutter lag is improved. Shutter speed has not.

Many reviews have picked up on this and it's not surprising given past cameras.

I'll keep it simple: Samsung has yet to fix its problems with both subject motion and shutter speed on its flagship camera, even in bright situations. You can get some really stunning photos out of this phone, but it's just as likely to fail to capture a moment that its closest rivals would nail without breaking a sweat. I'm not sure an untrustworthy camera is as bad as a poor quality one, but it's not far off. Landscapes, sunsets, short walks around your neighborhood — these are all things the Galaxy S24 Ultra is capable of handling. Kids, pets, and anything else in motion? Not so much

Carries on with examples in article.

I was hoping to see a software update before I fully made up my mind as to whether to keep the S24u, but it doesn't look as though there is anything just around the corner.
At the same time, I don't want to send it back and then an update is released and improves camera performance. Decisions, decisions.........

Pixel is uncanny when taking shots. Very dependable, from the pixel 6a to the 8 Pro.

Where is this software update that soo many here were swearing by...

Nothing is guaranteed until it's delivered.

Well exactly, but I think it's fair to say there will be one, just when! You only have to look back over the past generations to know a software release will come (eventually)

Shutter speed was never fixed on past phones. I put it down to processing all 200MP. What a silly pixel count on tiny sensor.

I think you've got me mixed up in the shutter speed discussion.
I was referring to general camera photo quality Vs the s23u.
Fair enough. But shutter speed should also be fixed and ASAP. It shouldn't have even been a problem from the get go.

Shutter speed is fine now, no delay when you enable the quick tap shutter compared to the same setting on the S23U which still has a bit of processing delay.

Just paid Samsung the £370 for not returning the trade-in, phone recycling is getting the 23U today so hopefully get my £620 from them today too.
