well thats how i do mine, never failed me once currently 16hours in to prime blend @ 4.6ghz and ram @ 2133mhz 9 10 10 21 1T.

its not the best method, just saves time if you know what your doing

CPU overclock effects IMC which in tern effects memory stability so to test what your memory is truly capable of you must remove CPU overclock.

By using Prime to test shows one thing about your system that is it can run prime!!!
 
that is true, but not every 1 want to top leader boards. most people want an average overclock to boost performance in games/folding.. and it saves a lot of time to test your memory while your cpu is overclocked... who wants to sacrifice cpu frequency for memory frequency?... not me thats for sure, so thats why i do my memory while my cpu is clocked.

its not an incorrect method, its just not the method you use.
