Samsung Le40M86BD arrived! With piccies

I must say, when i plugged in my Sky+ box the picture looked terrible. Much worse than my old 32" Samsung 720p set.

However, 5 minutes spent inputing some settings from the AVfoum thread and the difference is incredible. It's much better than i was expecting to be honest.

We have just got our f86 40inch and I must say xbox360 over component and ps3 over hdmi look very very nice. might get some pictures later if anyones interested

Trick!

Can I ask how much you paid for this please mate?

I'm in the market and would like to know I'm getting a good deal :)
£719 via a mainstream online place that used to have high-street outlets. I had to use various voucher codes to get that. I think the price has gone up a bit since xmas as it would appear the company fluctuate their prices depending on what stock they have. The N version is still available for £699 and is superb - it's a bit chunkier and doesn't have as high a contrast ratio but is still pretty good. I'll post more piccies up later.

SD tele is not bad at all once you've set it up. The settings thread on av forums is useful but be prepared to spend a lot of time wading through it to find the preechy setups. The thread on hdtvtest is very good too, especially the posts made by a guy called Neil - his settings look a little better to my eyes than the hdtvtest pro settings.

I'm going to have to get a vga cable for 1080p output from the xbox360 as for some reason the xbox produces a line of pixels in the middle of the screen which occasionally flicker very quickly from left to right when using component. I initially thought it was a problem with the tv but if I change the zoom the pixels move around the screen which suggests it's the source that's the issue. It doesn't do it all the time and I can stop it from happening if I turn the tv off and then on again. Annoyingly it comes back if I change source and then change back to component.

Just slightly O/T but can i ask what those speakers are? They look fantastic!
Monitor Audio RS6 fed by Audiolab 8000s and 8000a (modded as poweramp) and a Beresford 7510 DAC. For £600 they're absolutely superb! Shop around and you can get them second hand for considerably less. I'm considering going for a set of GS20s next month.

Just got mine and made some quick changes from radioactive mode and Im rather impressed, Xbox looked great and so does the freeview for what I was expecting. Interestingly I also my seperate freeview box and there appears to be no issues at all with the scart interferance, although its wa running through a Joytech scart control centre with a thor lead, Ill try a duffo std cable direct to the TV. No issues with freeview judder and the sound is better than I had been expecting.

Everything you read on AVforums nearly put me off, but Im glad its here now :)

HDMI dvds, HD stuff and the Xbox360 through component all look superb. Freeview is still touch and go even after a lot of messing about with the settings. Quite a few of the setups on the avforums thread have it too red for my liking.
