Samsung LS34E790C - Curved 34" 21:9 super-wide

Would i really have to buy a calibrator like a spyder if i purchase this monitor, i really dont want to have to spend another £100 on top of the price of the monitor and i might need to purchase a new stand if its own doesnt work out for me.

Like everyone is saying the colors out the box are awful and it need calibrating

If you look for it always can find something wrong I can't say this monitor 100% good depend what angle you look at it
 
really hard to tell in that youtube video the LG looks like it has crushed blacks.

Look at the area under the hair on the LG...theres no detail at all and the Samsung looks like the light is directly on the screen or it hasn't been calibrated properly.

VA should show more details since it has better blacks/higher contrast ratio.

This is for TV's but the same still applies, can you guess which one has the better blacks/contrast ratio :p

The VT60 has about 20,000+:1 contrast ratio iirc :eek:

It's probably just people with a bad one being the most vocal online that's giving the false impression that they are in some way "faulty". I'm extremely happy with mine and it's been well worth the money. Check the photo I posted of it displaying a pure black screen for reference. I accept that some people may have a bad one but to purport that as the norm due to a vocal minority with a bad one seems both unfair and in some cases just simply not true. To get a perfect screen is not the absolute certainty it should be for the price however getting a bad one is also far from the certainty that some people seem intent on making others believe.

But fact is still your monitor suffer from glow and bleed lol :eek:
 
Here are some more settings. This time I calibrated my monitor without changing anything at all in the ICC profile. So make sure your using the default Samsung profile without anything changed at all and try these settings. The best way to do this is to remove the profile under colour management and then find the monitor and under devices remove the profile that's there and it will go back to the original default one.
I managed to get the colours perfect without using any software and just using the monitor settings.

Bright = Whatever feels pleasing to you.
Contrast = 85
Sharpness = 60
Color Tone = Custom
Red = 42
Green = 32
Blue = 36
Gamma = Mode 3....Mode two only gives a contrast ratio of about 1000 while mode 3 is about 1800.

The only issue I have with this monitor is that the center third of my screen is perfect and whites are white. The left and right side of the screen though has a red tint to it which is annoying on Fully white backgrounds.

I see they have 3 of these in the b grade section. You know it won't be light bleed so chances are high it is dissatisfaction with colours due to lack of calibration. Might be a bargain for someone.
 
Took a picture from the same scene on my screen as that hobbit screenshot below just so you can see what rubbish it is.
My phone changes the colours a little but compared to that washed out rubbish image below this is more what it looks like on the Samsung.
