Looking to buy a new 1or2 TB drive.

to use as a store/backup drive.

reliability is important, but as funds are low,,
I wondered if the Samsung's are as good as the WD eco drives (i like these)

Thanks folks

Had drives from both die, and iffy firmware on two Samsung F3 sorted with a flash. I'd not avoid either though, luck of the draw. At work I have one machine with a WD 40GB IDE drive that has clocked up 29000 odd hours (twenty nine thousand power on hours) and most of the others bought at the same time have long since died

Cheers d_brennen
would agree mostly,, cant help but prefer WD, i have a few old WD and still going strong.

Nice to see another NI member :)

Wow that is pretty damn fast for a single drive probably would like to replace my raid0 320gb Samsung ones at some point as they are similar speed to your 2TB ones.

*Edit: didn't see it was a WD eco drive vs a F4. Thought it was A CB 2TB vs a F4 and wondered why the WD score was so low.

They're both Eco Drives so it's a fair comparison.

I'll refer you to this post for a comparison of the 2TB WD Black and the Samsung 2TB F4 EcoGreen.

Not bad considering the WD costs twice as much.

Well that's the thing, I've just been looking at a WD vs F4 comparison on the SPCR site and the F4 score is similar but the WD is much higher.

I'll post that in the other thread.
