Personally I don't go for Sammy's having had two fail on me and had to return them under warranty. Never had issue with Western Digital so tend to go for these.
Had drives from both die, and iffy firmware on two Samsung F3 sorted with a flash. I'd not avoid either though, luck of the draw. At work I have one machine with a WD 40GB IDE drive that has clocked up 29000 odd hours (twenty nine thousand power on hours) and most of the others bought at the same time have long since died
Wow that is pretty damn fast for a single drive probably would like to replace my raid0 320gb Samsung ones at some point as they are similar speed to your 2TB ones.
