Samsung Samsung 970 EVO 500 disk read error with graphics card installed

Very strange problem this!

My setup
Motherboard GA-AX370-Gaming 5
Samsung 970 EVO 500GB
EVGA Geforce GTX 1060 3GB

Everything works fine. However i am selling my graphics card and downgrading to a
GT710. Now when i boot the pc with the GT710 installed i get disk read error.
Also tried an old 7300GT and get the same error. Is the pc somehow trying to boot from the graphics card. Don't know if i missing soemthing in the bios? At the moment it will only boot with a powered graphics card installed

Anyone got any idea the problem is?

I know very little but.......have you uninstalled all the old video drivers etc.
Would clearing CMOS help?

Can you see the drive in the BIOS with the GT710 installed?
